Meet Lt. Cmdr. Rebecca Dickinson, the naval officer who was allegedly a hooker in the DC Madam escort service under the pseudonym Renee. See her call girl photos and testimony here, just as soon as we have it.
She testified under immunity that she had sex with just about every client that she visited in the log books. She exchanged hundreds of telephone calls with the DC Madam, Deborah Jeane Palfrey, during an eight month stretch beginning in October 2005. After quitting, she tried to return as a call girl later in 2006.
Lietuenant Commander Dickenson is 38 years old. She worked as an escort while instructing students at the Naval Academy school in Annapolis, Maryland. She later transferred to the Academy in Athens Georgia where she was “fired” when she explained her double life to superiors.
Rebecca C. Dickinson has three children, an earlier troubled marriage, and had filed for bankruptcy shortly before she started selling her body as a prostitute named “Renee.” She was reportedly divorced from her husband in 1998 and has not had primary physical custody of her children since then.
The Navy has sent her a letter of reprimand and explained that she will never wear the uniform again. But they do not know quite what else to do since she apparently has immunity as a result of her cooperation with the federal court case against the DC Madam.
She started her Navy career in 1986 as an aviation electronics technician for 3 years. She next attended Auburn University and attended the Naval Supply Corps School after becoming a commissioned officer. Dickinson served on the support ship Camden, the supply ship Santa Barbara, and the cruiser Bunker Hill.

But to be sympathetic, some of the women who do this are in financial problems and are not thinking clearly. The local news shows these women coming to the courthouse hiding and in disguise. What about the men who used these women? They should be prosecuted.
In Sweden, prostitution is a crime only for the people who use prostitutes but not for the prostitutes themselves.

What I don’t understand is how can a Lt. Cdr. in the US NAVY have the need to file for BANKRUPTCY? LCDR makes at least twice as much as any enlisted person. Sheesh.

His position is to prosecute the men but not the women? That does not sound gender-neutral to me, the self-appointed arbiter of all things.

I am in no way a sexist of any gender. McCain, I believe In your neck of the woods the prostitutes are mostly men! Okay, I guess all involved would be men.
I guess I may have a soft spot (only in my heart though) for these “fallen” women because they are women and “working” mothers to boot.
Sweden has those laws to prevent the importation and exploitation of children, male and female. And yes, they prosecute female “Johns.”

More seriously prostitution is an exercise in personal responsibility to choose what you will do with your time in exchange for money. Nobody “has” to be a prostitute. And in this case, she had a fine job already. Isn’t this case really about greed?

Anyone who puts extracurricular employment before service to the Navy does not belong in the Navy, because duty comes first.
I could care less about hookers being hookers (the old, non-PC military understood that there is nothing wrong with that) but for someone in a position of military responsibility doing ANYTHING subject to blackmail and creating trust issues is inappropriate.
In addition, selling booty to politicians creates great potential to blackmail THEM for career favors.
Sell that azz in Reno instead.

You make some valid points, and I think what you wrote cuts to the core of the whole scandal. There were many people visiting Palfrey’s service who had security clearances, and some who worked for her also had them. That was BIG fire for the prosecution to put-out. Thanks. Agreed, she had no business moonlighting in the manner she did, but then, Vitter had no business doing as he did. They weren’t alone.
