U.S. Soldier by Day
Muslim Terrorist by Night
Perhaps lost in the holiday clutter this week was a relatively small story about the GI terrorist who threw a grenade into the tent of his comrades in 2003. Hasan Akbar was sentenced to death for the murder of fellow U.S. soldiers, a sentence that was upheld by the military authorities on Monday.
FORT BRAGG, N.C. — The top officer at Fort Bragg has upheld the death sentence for a soldier convicted last year of killing two comrades in Kuwait in 2003.
Sgt. Hasan Akbar was found guilty of two counts of premeditated murder and three counts of attempted murder during a court-martial. The charges stemmed from the March 23, 2003, grenade attack on three tents in Camp Pennsylvania, Kuwait.
Capt. Christopher Seifert and Maj. Gregory Stone were killed in the attack, and 14 others from the 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division, Fort Campbell, Ky, were wounded.
Lt. Gen. John R. Vines, the commander of the 18th Airborne Corps, affirmed Akbar’s death sentence. The case now goes to the Army Court of Criminal Appeals under an automatic appeal.
It remains quite telling how our liberal friends are strangely quiet about this particular U.S. soldier’s illegal behavior.

Why do you constantly have to blame our troops rather than support them? Yes, this and the Haditha massacres and rape/murders and torture-to-death of prisoners shows that not all of our soldiers are heroes. But why can’t you write about the good things that our troops are accomplishing in Iraq?
