These are golden days indeed for fans of Spectacle! Guy Debord is probably itching inside his Paris coffin wanting to participate. All of the latest, post-debate polls show Donald Trump still in the lead of the 2016 GOP presidential campaign. Some show him holding steady, a few show him still gaining ground. Once again defying the gravity of dino-RINOs like George Will and Charles Krauthammer. Both had pronounced Trump yet again and both have been proven wrong, yet again. Sorry Charlie, no tuna for you! Meanwhile, Hillary Clinton is slipping in the latest polls out of New Hampshire, with Bernie Sanders now in the lead. Oh-Oh! Do you think that maybe the email scandal has finally sunk her? Proving once and for all what a liar Hillary Clinton is? The latest ′news′ is that two of the four emails with classified material in them contained ′Top Secret′ information. Hillary Clinton has finally agreed to turn over her private email server to authorities.
The past 5-6 days have been amusing. The debate and post-debate flap between Donald Trump and Megyn Kelly have achieved something that Liberals, even Barack Obama, have failed to do for the past two decades. That is to irrevocably damage the Fox News Channel. With talk of Trump boycotting FNC, Roger Ailes had to cave in to Teflon Donald. The Monday night non-response-response by Megyn Kelly was a red flag that as soon as she can wiggle her way out of her contract, she will jump ship. I predict that she will be shooting for the evening anchor job at NBC News. Mark my words, you heard it HERE 1st!
Other aspects of the first wave of post-debate polls show the Republican field being shaken and stirred. Jeb Bush and Scott Walker took huge hits, as did Rand Paul and Mike Huckabee. John Kasich, Carly Fiorina, Ted Cruz and Ben Carson all gained ground. Even Marco Rubio came out ahead. The Rick Perry campaign is now officially on life support and sinking fast. Chris Christie, Jim Gilmore, George Pataki and Lindsey Graham may not be far behind Perry and Oblivion.
Bernie Sanders is surging as Democrats search for a new leader. They may get one as Harvard law professor, Lawrence Lessig has formed a campaign exploratory committee. I′ll be writing about him separately. Hillary Clinton is sinking deeper into trouble, which she brought upon herself. What I found most interesting was that she turned in a legal form (which she was suppose to sign and turn in years ago), swearing under threat of perjury, that she has turned over all of her ′official′ emails to the government. I′m not lawyer, nor do I play one on TV, but it seems to me that she just committed perjury when she signed the darn form! One sentence in the document specifies that she had turned over all emails back on December 5, 2014. But we already know from when the Benghazi committee compelled Sidney Blumenthal to testify that there were a number of emails between Hillary and he that she did not include. Oops!
Yep! Everywhere we turn we have Spectacle! Nor does it appear to be going away anytime soon. Donald Trump gave a rousing speech in Birch Run, Michigan yesterday, following a press conference. He torpedoed critics on the subject of issuing plans and policy papers with a dose of reality. Trump said that when he goes into a negotiation to buy a property, he doesn′t draft a 12 or 19-point plan. He just wades into battle and outfights his competitors. His strategy is to win, to succeed, and he adapts when necessary to achieve the goal. A reporter asked if that means we have to trust him? DUH! Who would you rather trust? Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton?
