Elliot Spitzer has been hailed by the press as a crusading Elliot Ness, hell-bent on removing the stain of corruption within our financial services industry.

Mr. Spitzer should look up the term, “those in glass houses…” the next time he decides to go after someone for questionable ethics. He has now been linked with a prostitution ring in New York according to the New York Times. The evidence must be pretty damning for the Times to go to print with an article that could destroy their left wing poster boy. The hypocrisy of politicians, which affects both parties, seems to know no end.

Given the hyped coverage from the mainstream media in regards to Senator Craig’s activities, it will be interesting to see if the media covers this story with as much vigor. Somehow, I think they will not. The Times and CNN are probably developing stories on how prostitution is a victimless crime in order to cushion the blow for Elliot Spitzer.

If Elliot Spitzer was truly a paradigm of virtue, he would resign immediately. Something tells me that won’t happen.

How predicatable was this? Spitzer won’t be honorable and resign his post. Last night Anderson Cooper ran a segment where some talking head excused Spitzer’s behavior. The moment I saw this story, I knew exactly how it would play out. Next week Time and Newsweek with both run stories (boxed with the main Spitzer story) asking whether prostitution should be considered a victimless crime. As this drags on, ultra-leftist groups will protest in favor Spitzer. Imagine this happening if Spitzer was a Republican? We also know that Spitzer was a repeat offender and liked to do “acts” that were not safe. All of this will not bother the left one bit. They will pat us on the heads and tell us to take a deep breath. If this were a Republican, they and their buddies in the press would be calling for an immediate resignation.

Sometimes, I hate it when I know what is about to happen.

According to reports, Spitzer is going to cave in and resign. The more I read about the details of this case, the more I think Spitzer will be prosecuted. Not even his left wing media buddies can save him.
