Jeopardy Champ Arthur Chu met his end last night after an 11-day winning streak earning him $297,200. He was beaten by Diana Peloquin of Ann Arbor, Michigan, after she was the only contestant to give the correct response to Final Jeopardy. That being, ″He was the last male British Monarch who was not first the Prince of Wales.″ Chu responded with, ″Who is George II?″, while Peloquin correctly asked, ″Who was George VI?″ Many fans of the popular TV game show have not liked Chu for his aggressive style of play, starting with the highest value ′answers′ first, searching for ′Daily Doubles′ and racking up big numbers. After his 12-day stint on Jeopardy, Arthur Chu finished 3rd in all-time record winnings.

news of the day

So why do I choose Chu for my ′News of the Day′? Simple, look at what else has been going on this week. Barack Obama appeared on some stupid Internet program and once again belittled the office of the presidency with his usual dull, boring performance. The guy cannot even read from a script well. That is what happens when America′s first anti-president appears on a show hosted by an anti-comedian. Zach Whatshisname is about as funny as spilled milk.

Of course, we had more bad news about Obamacare. Of the alleged 4.2 million the White House claims have enrolled, at least 900,000 have yet to pay for their new health insurance. There seems little hope that the Obama administration will meet its target of 7 million enrolled by the end of March.

Then we have this brouhaha of Diane Feinstein crying foul about the CIA spying on her staff. She is just fine with the NSA spying on all of us. Poor baby! Maybe she should just focus on Climate Change so she can get more of the $100 million dollars billionaire Tom Steyer is promising to contribute to pro-Global Warming candidates. That is essentially why the U.S. Senate held their all-nighter this week. They′re looking for cash.

I am not even sure I want to get into the mystery of the missing Malaysia Flight 370. Nobody seems to know anything and stories and rumors abound. Did they crash in the sea? Did the jetliner blow up in mid-air? Was it terrorism? Pilot error? Mechanical or structural failure? For all we know, they were abducted in mid-flight by one of those giant triangular UFOs, or maybe entered a time vortex like in the old Twilight Zone episode, and wound up in the Jurassic Period?

So my pick of the News of the Day being that Jeopardy champ Arthur Chu was finally defeated is as good as any other story. If nothing else, we here in Michigan can cheer for Ann Arbor resident Diana Peloquin whom unseated Chu last night in Final Jeopardy. Fans may have hated Chu, but I am predicting that more future contestants will adopt his style of hunting for Daily Doubles.
