Hawaii Caucus - Voting Results

Live Updates Below.

The Hawaii winner is by and large a foregone conclusion. Barack Obama wins the Hawaii Democrat caucus. No surprises here. Why did you stay awake for this?

Voting in the Hawaii “primary” sure beat the ice and cold of earlier primaries. Check this out.

Barack Obama went to high school in Hawaii. The native son is triumphant upon his return.

Which brings me to this: Barack Obama was supposedly born in Hawaii almost before it became a state. Much has been made of John McCain’s birth in Panama with some questioning if he is a “natural born citizen” entitled to take office according to those silly rules in the constitution. When will Obama come clean about his real birth date? Has anyone seen the certificate? Just thinking out loud.

All of the numbers are below in brisk live-blogging fashion.

And no, there are no exit polls from Hawaii. Nobody cares what the fun-loving party maniacs in comical shirts who drink foo-foo drinks really think about politics.

Hawaii Democrat Caucus Results:

Update 1 - turnout smashed all records. Obamamania has swept the Island despite Hillary Clinton’s endorsements by Senator Daniel Inouye and Senate President Colleen Hanabusa.

Update 2 - Obama wins this by a landslide. Expect 70-30%.

Update 3 - Good live blogging discussion here.

Update 4 - Ballot shortages and huge lines. Believe it or not, some precincts rushed around making photocopies of official ballots at local Kinkos. Slow tallying. Voting will continue late another couple of hours. They must be taking early nap in the Islands.

Update 5 - Continued reports of monumental turnout on par with Xerxes invasion of Greece. HOURS in line. Everyone is voting Obama in a festive, party atmosphere. God help us all.

Update 6 - With 7% officially counted, Obama is up 77-23%. Hillaryous. Go to bed. Bookmark and return in the morning for the details of this Obamination. Or is it “Obamanation?” Linguists help us out please.

Update 7 - Geez, they refuse to close the polling locations. Don’t they have a roast pig waiting at home? In a tremendous Orwellian power grab, the Democrat party head says “We’re going to keep it open. We don’t know when this kind of interest will happen again. This is history right now.” Counting has stopped for the next few minutes. Knuckleheads. History is when you count the votes in Hawaii.

Update 8 - Don’t they know that I have a golf game in the morning? (Note to Democrats - for charity, so it’s cool.) Okay they are done drinking Pina Coladas and pontificating about history. With 25% counted, Obama up 74-26%.

Update 9 - I’m ready to start a petition drive for 49 states. Latest is that an old lady with a cane is struggling to navigate a sidewalk crack so that she can cast the last Obama vote. Polls will remain open by judicial decree until she makes it or falls, which will of course cause more delay.

Update 10 - With 51% counted, Obama increases his narrow lead. Now up 76-24%. We had expected Hillary to close to about 73-27%, so our forecasting model is apparently off.

Update 11 - Given Obama’s slight lead, ABC News has finally declared Obama the victor with 51% counted. We called it 6 hours ago just before the polls closed. For me it is now bed, golf, and economic stimulus in the morning. For Hawaii, they are on my do-not-visit list for the rest of the year. For you, dear reader, come back for Ohio and Texas next week. All of our impressive Right Pundits resources will be dedicated to bringing you the results before they happen, as usual.

Update 12 - Final is 75-25%.
