Here is your thread for Maryland exit polls and election results for the Maryland primary. Use this thread to converse about the Republican and Democrat primary included local state issues. Winners will be called.
We will know if John McCain wins Maryland soon.
There are a lot of local races of interest in the state including party primary challenges by two House of Representative incumbents, Republican Wayne Gilchrest and Democrat Albert Wynn.
The Hillary Clinton campaign is mortified about losing both primaries on Tuesday. Large donors and campaign insiders think a Barack Obama February sweep will cripple her chances in Ohio and Texas. They say that the election is ’slipping away.’
Chelsea Clinton continues her pimping for Hillary by dining with young super-delegates. Perhaps it is no coincidence that 17-year old juveniles can vote in Maryland.
The latest polls say that Barack Obama and John McCain will win their respective party primaries over Hillary Clinton and Mike Huckabee, however late word is that Huckabee is gaining.
Here are the latest Maryland polls:
Maryland Polls
Mason Dixon:
- McCain 54%
- Huckabee 23%
- Paul 7%
- Obama 53%
- Clinton 35%
Rasmussen:
- Obama 57%
- Clinton 31%
Survey USA:
- McCain 52%
- Huckabee 26%
- Paul 10%
- Obama 55%
- Clinton 32%

***UPDATE*** MBT 8:07 pm EST
Um… Maryland polls are extending their hours – they are staying open until 9:30, from 8:00 due to icing and blocked roadways due to accidents. It will be difficult to call any elelction until the polls close!
***UPDATE*** McCain 8:15 pm EST
MBT is right about the polls still open. But luckily this is a blog and not a corporate news service that keeps news secret. Obama wins Maryland with a bigger margin than Virginia. Expect 70%-30% based on exit polls.

Well I voted for McCain. I thought I’d never see the day where I punched the box next to his name….
Hopefully the other Republican in Columbia, MD doesn’t cancel me out….
February 12th, 2008 at 7:36 am
Is MBT the “other Republican”?
February 12th, 2008 at 1:16 pm
Well, I guess no one cares about Maryland or as I like to call it, Massachusetts South.

The last time HRC blew out of the state early before the polls closed was in S.C. Looks like Maryland, Virginia and D.C. will be a win by large margins for Obama.
February 12th, 2008 at 1:29 pm
jcannon,
Your right. This is going to be another good night for Obama. The new HRC strategy seems to put all chips on OH and TX. Since there is no winner take all in the Dem primaries, she is going to have to crush Obama in both states in order to achieve a victory that does not rely on the distinctly undemocratic superdelegate lunacy.
BTW – Chelsea is being pimped out by Mom. There, I said it! Go ahead McCain, suspend me!
February 12th, 2008 at 1:30 pm
I think Hillary should ask Rudy how his big state strategy worked out. That might be an interesting conversation.

Is there any news on the Republican exit polls?

57-31 McCain it looks like.
February 12th, 2008 at 2:56 pm
Survey USA has HRC leading BO 56 – 39 in Ohio in poll taken Feb 11/12
February 12th, 2008 at 3:00 pm
Ian,
I don’t think she will take OH by 17 but she is going to have to have a HUGE victory in both OH and TX. Can you imagine how the Obamiacs will react if the Clinton’s win due to a combination of super-delegate votes and the recognition of MI and FL?
My strategy would be to welcome all disaffected Obamiacs onto the McCain express. Heh, heh.
February 12th, 2008 at 3:31 pm
If that’s how Hillary wins, I’ll renounce my party membership and vote for McCain.
February 12th, 2008 at 3:41 pm
Pedant,
I posted on another thread, I have a friend who holds a leadership position in the DNC and I spoke with him last night. He is convinced that this is exactly how Hillary is going to win. His argument was that Hillary is the establishment candidate and a lot of those super delagates are establishment folks, and owe a lot to the Clintons. They will be voting for her, he said probably 3-1. Take it for what its worth, Hillary is gonna get selected, not elected.
February 12th, 2008 at 3:48 pm
Pendant,
Would you really vote for McCain if that happens. I think I will reach to other Obama supporters to see if that is a common reaction.
February 12th, 2008 at 4:12 pm
Yes, I think I really would — but then again I’ve always been a McCain fan. I can’t speak for others…
February 12th, 2008 at 4:15 pm
I went on Obama’s site (the one Jill recommended) to check their pulse. We will see how they respond. They seem like a nice bunch there. I admitted to being a Republican and 15 minutes later no one has yet to call me Satan. Try that on the Daily Kos and see what happens.
February 12th, 2008 at 4:26 pm
Mdelf,
You are a brave soul, I can’t even bring myself to bring up Daily Kos’s webpage. I’m afraid of what will happen to me if I do.
February 12th, 2008 at 4:28 pm
BTM,
I criticized Bush in a post on this site that the Kos Kids linked to. I was taken out to the woodshed for that. The irony was that I was banned from their site in 04 due to be a far right wing reactionary. Go figure.

Is that why we just got a flood of visitors from barackobama.com? 2nd time in a week. I have to say that is an excited bunch of kids.
Pedant, we will put you on the board of directors of “Democrats for McCain.”

Maryland polls extended to 9.30pm
February 12th, 2008 at 5:18 pm
Yes, the Obama folks are nice.
On VA, its still really close. Some of the VA people at Hedge indicated that Huck can win it. Sorry, that i can not update today, but work persists even for the folks with red eyes..14 hours and counting.
February 12th, 2008 at 5:20 pm
Also, no internal sources. The VA, MD, and DC people don’t like me lol. Actually, I do not know anybody.
February 12th, 2008 at 5:30 pm
Tina, I thought that everyone liked you.
Anyone have an update on the congressional primary challenges in Maryland?
February 12th, 2008 at 5:32 pm
