Little did Ellen Henry of the Santee Historical Society, SHS, realize that her photo of a UFO over the historic Edgemoor Barn would cause such a stir, making it one of the best UFO sightings for 2013! On May 7, 2013, Ms. Henry was photographing the barn, noted in San Diego County for potential ghost sightings, when a strange object appeared flying overhead. According to the Huffington Post, she was just taking pictures to update the society′s logo on the front of the barn. She heard no unusual sounds and did not notice the UFO until much later when reviewing her work. The 100-year old barn is located near two airports, Gillespie Field and MCAS Miramar, but the object is clearly not any conventional aircraft. Some speculate that it may be a new type of UAV, or unmanned drone. HuffPo also talked with Janet Kwak from 10News, the local ABC TV affiliate, who contacted both airfields and received no explanation to the UFO image.

This has been a good year for UFO enthusiasts. In the United States, there have been many decent sightings with video and photographs of them. Warren, Michigan saw a nice triangle-shaped craft hovering over their night skies back in January. Nearly every state of the union has chimed in with sightings. Just days after the one in San Diego, folks in Los Angeles were treated to a formation of UFOs flying over MacArthur Park in broad daylight.

Worldwide, the UFO phenomenon has also been growing. China, Japan, Australia and other Asian countries have had exceptional numbers of sightings. In Europe, the UK has been a hotbed of activity and some even reported numerous UFOs seen over Rome during the Vatican Conclave when the new pope was chosen. In Canada, they have had a record year for UFO sightings. Mexico, along with Latin and South America have been busy, too. In Russia, many believe that the meteor which exploded mid-air, causing some damage on the ground, may have been related to a UFO seen days before.

Earlier this month, we had the Citizens Hearing on Disclosure at the National Press Club from April 29 through May 3, 2013. Many high-ranking politicians, former military personnel and scientists gave testimony pressing for the federal government to open their files on the subject of UFOs. Among them was retired Air Force Lt. Colonel Richard French who claims to have been the lead investigator for Project Blue Book in the 1950s. His account of investigating the famous St, John′s, Newfoundland UFO crash was particularly interesting. French said he not only saw two UFOs underwater but also their alien crews.

So did Ellen Henry photograph a UFO over the historic barn in San Diego County? Working for the Santee Historical Society, Ms. Henry was photographing the 100-year old Edgemoor Barn, already mysterious due to several ghost sightings, when she captured a disc-shaped object in one image. Was her photo the best UFO sighting of 2013 so far? Is it a alien spacecraft or some sort of new UAV drone? Nobody knows for certain, but it does make for interesting conversation.
