During his radio program yesterday, Rush Limbaugh said, ″Ladies and gentlemen, for the first time in my life, I am ashamed of my country.″ This set off a firestorm, resulting in Rush′s website to be crashed from all of the ′hits′ and page views. Of course, his remarks were taken somewhat out of context, as usual, by the Liberal Media. Rush was basically venting his frustration that, once again, Obama and the Democrats are winning the argument concerning the upcoming sequestration spending cuts, mainly by telling bold-faced lies. He has seen them use scare tactics for decades. Scaring seniors that Republicans will throw them over a cliff. Or scaring parents that their children will starve or their schools will be closed. Scaring citizens that police and firemen will not be around to prevent anarchy. It just goes on and on…
The core of Limbaugh′s frustration is how far we have gone from being focused on governing to the optics of making political points. Barack Obama has yet to learn how to govern the nation after four years, so he does the only thing he knows how to do… campaign. What really drives Rush crazy is that Obama′s campaign message has not changed one bit from the 2008 elections. Obama is still blaming the greedy rich for not paying their ′fair share′ in taxes, despite the fact that the top 10% fund and account for about 70% of the federal budget revenues. One might concede that Obama has switched from just simply blaming everything on George W. Bush to House Republicans, but that is a minor difference.
With his allies in the Liberal Media, Obama is winning the day on all of the budget issues. He got away with raising taxes on the Fiscal Cliff scare. He tricked Congress in increasing the Debt Ceiling in 2011. He fooled a whole bunch or people and institutions on how ObamaCare would not effect your current health insurance plans and keep costs down. Obama continues to lie about his green energy agenda creating jobs here instead of China. He claims that millions more are working now while the actual net increase is barely 28,000 jobs since when he took office.
Yet, a large portion of the country buys what Obama is selling. Oddly enough, the very same people who are buying the lies of Obama are the same who are suffering the worst at his policies. Unemployment levels for women, Blacks and Hispanics are all higher. So too for teenagers and those young adults 25 or younger. It will be these same young people who will soon bear the brunt of the looming economic disaster Obama is creating by his runaway spending spree and increases to the National Debt.
Now, I suspect that when Rush Limbaugh said, ″… for the first time in my life, I am ashamed of my country″, he was paraphrasing Michelle Obama′s famous remark about how for the first time in her life, she was proud of her country as her husband was running for president. But you do have to wonder just what is going on with so many people still approving of Barack Obama when the only thing he seems to do is orchestrate an endless series of scare tactics? All of which are based on false premises. As Fox News co-host of The Five, Greg Gutfeld, so aptly described it, the battle over the sequestration spending cuts is like two obese men fighting over removing olives from a meat-lover′s pizza. The amount of money being discussed is relatively small compared to the entire federal budget. For Obama to preach Armageddon over $85 Billion dollars in less INCREASES over the current spending levels is disturbing. Rush Limbaugh feels his intelligence is being insulted and he is right!
