In Alabama yesterday, a teacher was suspended for 10 days for referring to ‘Fat Butt Michelle Obama’ during his class lecture. Bob Grisham, who teaches psychology at Lauderdale County High School, was suspended for 10 days without pay, ordered to take sensitivity training, meet monthly with the school’s director of personnel, and suspended from teaching for one year after a student taped his lecture.
Grisham made the comment on January 27, when during a class discussion about the low-calorie lunch menu, said that it was due to ‘fat butt Michelle Obama’. He then claimed that “look at her. She looks like she weighs 185 or 190. She’s overweight.” He also apparently made offensive remarks about gays during his lecture, but the reason for the punishment was the supersized attack on the First Lady’s posterior.
First of all, this happened in Alabama. Alabama??? Whither the South, when Alabama schools are this politically correct.
Second, this should be a lesson for all teachers. Have your students sign a confidentiality contract at the beginning of the semester, unless something is said that violates the law. Otherwise, you will have to watch every word you say.
Third, what kind of school has a policy against talking about public officials’ posterior, and whether they cause a shift in the tides? Is this just a Michelle Obama clause, or does the same thing hold for Chris Christie?
Finally, isn’t this an ‘emperor’s new clothes’ kind of deal? Everyone knows that she has a big butt, don’t they? Is it against the policy to say Serena Williams has a big butt, too?

Let’s see, Rubio recently goes on Rush and the “new” immigration policy “is admirable and noteworthy”.
While Rubio is obviously pandering, it is the smart move (with Rubio also being the “right guy” to present it).
It appears that the GOP is simply trying to disassociate itself from the type of views that run rampant on this site.
Jindal, Cantor, Ryan and the most recent version of Gingrich are now distancing themselves from the extremism of the Tea Party.
As I have mentioned before, “You can’t govern if you can’t win”.
Strict allegiance to an ideology may “feel” good, but is anything but pragmatic.
The question is who replaces the financial contributions of that sector?

Your claim in your last sentence is off base, though. The GOP doesn’t need the financial contributions of tea party people, who are the main group opposed to changes in immigration policy; it needs their votes. The $$ crowd all favors lessening of illegal immigration restrictions. They need the cheap labor to keep wages down.

Did anyone see the movie ‘Mea Maxima Culpa’ on HBO this week?
Wow, it is one of the rare movies that almost needs to be watched with your hands in front of your face.
The extent that the Catholic Church was aware of, and actively covered up, the rampant pedophilia amongst priests was painful to watch and certainly made them complicit.
While interesting and well-done, it is one of those movies you wished you had never tripped over.

I myself have little use for “organized” religion and think the creep priests need castration.
But you have to ask yourself where the left draws the line on what is and isnt a first amendment right when the ACLU in 2000 took a shot at defending NAMBLAs free speech applying to pedophilia.

A good part of these men are some of the most miserable little btchs I’ve ever met.
My ex and I used to go to Hulas Bar and Lei(lay) Stand. A gay bar in Waikiki.
The only reason we went all the time was because the food n music was so much better than most pubs. We also didn’t have to worry about us getting hit on, everyone knew the deal.
I made a lot of friends in Hulas, many often cried to me about their lovers.
I dont know if its because the lifestyle is more promiscuous than others, but there seemed to be a lot of discontent going.
Same thing occurred many times in my years in the restaurant business.
On one hand I feel sorry for them for reasons that have nothing to do with moral superiority but because they seemed to all be of the impression once they got special acknowledgements for their lifestyle all their problems would be solved.
