New Jersey Senate President Stephen Sweeney claimed today that Chris Christie, the state’s Governor, “prayed a lot and got lucky” when Hurricane Sandy hit the state. Sweeney, a Democrat, intends to run against Christie for New Jersey Governor in this year’s election. According to Sweeney, “…I think he’s conveniently using it to ignore these other problems. I think the governor did a very good job communicating and handling the storm. But these issues are still here and they can’t be ignored.”
The interesting thing about these harsh partisan attacks is that Christie dealt with the disaster in a particularly nonpartisan fashion. He welcomed assistance from the federal government as chief executive of a state that was particularly devastated by this surprising harsh storm.
We sometimes hear of Republicans who utter similar claims about God’s will. These make national headlines to the amusement of the liberal media. Yet this time, this story has not been highlighted, although the person uttering them was attempting to rouse his political base.
Even disregarding the above claim, Sweeney made other outrageous allegations during the same press conference. “I think he’s conveniently using it to ignore other problems. I think the governor did a very good job communicating and handling the storm. But these issues are still here and they can’t be ignored.”
New Jersey Republicans immediately came to the governor’s defense, pointing out the obscenity of Democrats trying to use Christie’s quick reaction to the storm as a rationale to vote against him in November.

Must be a mighty thick rug Christie cut this prayer on. Maybe he rewrote the old Gen. Patton prayer for good weather. I’ve used that prayer myself on several occasions and it does work!

Ah, Arriba! Such disappointment. Your post are usually a lot closer to reality than this. Granted, the main mission of the writers here are to engage in an Obama/Dem bash fest while promoting Plutocracy and Social Darwinism but you generally present a less blind partisan hack approach with less intellectual laziness and a splash of intellectual honesty.
The very title: “Democrats: Chris Christie Prayed for Hurricane Sandy” is grossly misleading as it was a Democrat, not plural. And that Democrat, Stephen Sweeney, a prospective contender for Chistie’s seat, immediately apologized for his tacky statement.
Even Liberal ole me understands this sort of distortion when I see tactics like this on Huffington, et al. They present an exaggerated and dishonest headline and then you just have to take the content with a couple pound of salt, at best.
Slow day in RightPundit land or have you simply become a product of the abjectly dishonest environment?

ronald, Like micky said, if you read the link, there were a number of dem leaders there, none of whom called on him to apologize. Isn’t that analogous to what the GOP is often accused of?

So Arriba, you stand behind your implied concept that Democrats stand behind or unitedly support Sweeny’s theory that Christie prayed for hurricane Sandy?
January 9th, 2013 at 11:45 am
Ron, it was the Senate PRESIDENT. As far as I know, you get that position by the consent of the others to become their leader and main voice. If the others don’t agree, the only way for the rest of us to know is if they reject his expressions. Did they?

Marxists live in a bubble. They don’t answer to nature, God, man, or common sense.
