From the Weekly Standard comes a mention of something today on MSNBC’s Morning Joe Show. The host, Chuck Todd, who was interviewing Joe Klein, author of a recently published book, A New Birth of Politics when he said this to Klein:

You’re going to like this. So, I threw the Lincoln analogy at a close aide to the president last week, and he said, ‘You know, with this Republican, with the way politics of Washington are today, there’d still be slavery. Lincoln wouldn’t have been able to navigate the polarization between the media between this–’ It was an interesting and depressing observation from this very smart White House aide.

Very smart White House aid? This is clearly one of the dumbest statements ever from a White House aid! Does this aid even know that Democrats were the ones who fought to preserve slavery? The Republican Party was formed out the remnants of the Whig Party and the radical anti-slavery elements of the Democratic Party! This is the perfect example of how Democrats refuse to let facts get in their way.

Let’s start with the common sense fact that it’s not possible to get any more polarized than when states begin to secede from the union. That seems logical, don’t you think?

Next is the inconvenient truth that, on top of seceding from the union and fighting the bloodiest war in US history, the Democrats’ next trick — after we finally pried the institution of slavery from the cold, dead fingers of the Confederate States of America — was to create the Jim Crow laws which denied Blacks their rights for another 70 years. When Republicans finally managed to end that era, what did Democrats do? Accuse Republicans of racism, of course!

Finally, let’s remember that after Democrats lost the War Between the States, they assassinated President Lincoln for his efforts. Clearly, when it comes to oppressing their fellow man, Democrats are willing to use “Second Amendment solutions.”

Nuff said on that stupidity!
