Director of National Intelligence James Clapper admitted on Tuesday that his staff edited the Benghazi Gate talking points memo used by UN Ambassador Susan Rice when she appeared on five Sunday talk shows. After last Friday′s appearance by former CIA Director David Petraeus, it became clear that the briefing used by Rice had been altered after it left the CIA. Initially, the White House claimed that only one deliberate change was made to the briefing memo, turning the consulate into a vague, ′government diplomatic facility.′ Now Clapper admits that he and his staff did remove any mention of terrorist groups such as Al Qaeda or Ansar al-Sharia. Rice is still under fire from Repubicans who intend to block her promotion to replace Hillary Clinton as Barack Obama′s Secretary of State. So is James Clapper both clueless and the biggest turkey in Washington on this Thanksgiving Day? Will his career be put on the chopping block?

There still remains the biggest question to be answered, who started the who ′blame-the-video′ mantra that the Obama administration clung to for two weeks after four Americans were killed in Benghazi. Libya? We know that by September 14, two full days after the attack, that the FBI had talked with survivors from our consulate and knew there had not been any mob protests over the video. Yet, this is the story that Obama, Hillary Clinton and Susan Rice, among others, continued to tell. Even blaming the video for the storming of our embassy in Cairo, Egypt is somewhat shaky. The ′pre-protest′ apology from an embassy staffer over the video was hardly needed as on that day, barely 3,000 views of the You-Tube video had occurred. For several days leading up to the Cairo protest, a number of terror groups had called for a protest against the U.S, holding of the Blind Sheikh. There had even been rumors that after the elections, Obama would release him to Egyptian authorities for ′humanitarian reasons.′

Benghazi Gate is far from being solved even with the admission by DNI James Clapper. There are still unanswered questions concerning the whole affair surrounding the terrorist attack on our consulate and the CIA annex which cost the lives of four Americans. From denials for more security by Obama officials to the entire misdirection blaming the You-Tube video for the assault. Susan Rice, our ambassador to the United Nations, should have told a different story, but took the easy way out and just read the Banghazi talking points memo placed in front of her. On this Thanksgiving Day, she, Clapper and many others should be thankful that they still have jobs.
