Yes – the rumors are flying that Ted Kennedy will endorse Obama for president! It now appears that the endorsement of Obama by Carolyn Kennedy several days ago might have been a trial balloon to see how it floated before Big Teddy came into the fray.
Interestingly, I couldn’t find a single photo of the two of them together. I guess Obama didn’t pay enough into the Kennedy campaign to actually get a picture taken with him.
The NY Times carried the editorial where Carolyn Kennedy compared Obama to her own father – startling at least!
Now that his niece jumped in first and survived, Uncle Teddy might decide to back Mr. Obama too.
Political Radar by ABC carried the Teddy rumor.
Remember – You heard it first here at RightPundits – well, almost first!

WASHINGTON (CNN) — Sen. Edward Kennedy backed Sen. Barack Obama for president Monday, saying, “It is time again for a new generation of leadership.”
Sens. Edward Kennedy and Barack Obama are all smiles after Kennedy endorsed Obama.
“It is time now for Barack Obama,” the Massachusetts senator and brother of the late President Kennedy added.
I guess the rumors were correct…

Obama needs to expand his base within the dem party in order to overcome the super delegate disadvantage. Having Chappaquidick Teddy endorse you will probably hurt you in most states with the exception of MA.

no … it enforces the jfk, rfk image
in fact rumor has it that it wasn’t teddy’s decision. he is just going along with it because …
a.) caroline kennedy really believes this
and
2.) the kennedy’s are not happy with the prospect of sharing the dem spotlight with a new superfamily … i.e. the clintons
if hillary wins then the two president marriage trumps the jfk + rfk memories

Here’s a photo of Kennedy and Obama worthy of a caption contest.

The endorsement news is all good for Obama and McCain these days, except for that scurrilous New York Times endorsement.
