This great nation has been mired with between 8 and 10% unemployment for President Obama’s entire term, which should make this election easy pickings. All the country needs is some reason to believe that Mitt Romney offers an alternative that they believe is workable. Yet Romney has been losing ground and hope is fading that he can turn this election around.
This last week has been a debacle of the highest order. Mitt finally goes on Meet the Press where he gets outwitted by the half-wit host, David Gregory. He refused to say anything of substance that might turn off any potential voters regarding budget cuts, which only makes those of us who support his candidacy inclined to believe that he has a vision in place. He claimed that he would get rid of Obamacare right away, but would keep the popular parts of it. Eight percent unemployment and this is what we get.
Mitt names a Vice Presidential candidate who actually excites us, because Paul Ryan does have a vision. Then, almost immediately Mitt makes it clear that he will not follow any of Ryan’s plans. Eight percent unemployment and this is what we get.
We are finally out of Iraq; soon, with any luck, we’ll have gotten out of Afghanistan as well. Romney promises not to cut defense spending but will still balance the budget (while cutting taxes) by eliminating deductions. But he doesn’t trust us enough to tell us which deductions he plans to eliminate since it might alienate some voters. Eight percent unemployment and this is what we get.
Medicare is a fiscal mess. We all know why. The silly Medicare expansions done in the last 15 years have bankrupted the program. Yet Mitt won’t touch those since they benefit well-off elderly voters. Eight percent unemployment and this is what we get.
Foreign policy has always been a weakness for Romney. The problem isn’t his lack of knowledge. Heck, virtually any ex-Governor has that problem. The problem is that he gets foreign policy advice from a bunch of neocons who have no idea how sick of war the rest of the nation is. Then yesterday, after the horrendous murders in Libya, he decides to issue an incredibly inappropriate statement about Obama apologizing to the thugs who killed them. He decoded this from a tweet a staff member released in Cairo when they were trying to keep the besieged embassy from being attacked. Heck, even Tony Perkins publicly disagreed with him. Eight percent unemployment and this is what we get.
Mitt still has time to turn this debacle of a campaign around. He needs to avoid the stupid trap of spouting immediately whenever an event happens. He’s a smart guy; I can’t believe he ran his company like that. Sometimes you have to think before you speak.
He has to present detailed plans of what he will do to bring down unemployment and bring down the debt. He has to articulate his tax plans so that people believe he has a vision that he will work to enact. I assume he knows what he wants to do. Tell the rest of us.

Arriba, sounds like you wish my man Newt were in the driver’s seat!
September 13th, 2012 at 5:24 am
Nah, I’m not crazy. I do wish that Rick Perry’s campaign hadn’t imploded, tho.

These are our Embassies and Consulates.
Sovereign soil
Now that the American occupants have left or been killed we should blow them up.
Anyone inside or around at the time had it coming.
The only reason the country is sick of war is because no one has the spine to actually fight a real war and end it.
September 13th, 2012 at 11:32 am
I agree with your last sentence completely, micky. After 9/11, I assumed that we would just blow up Afghanistan to kingdom come, then salt the earth so that nothing could ever grow there again. Instead, we decided we could fight an interminable war even tho Russia showed us it was unwinnable.
The problem is that the people who are so excited in getting us into them would never consider letting their kids actually fight in the wars. I think that the people who actually have to fight these endless wars are just fodder for these ideologues.

Arriba…
Well, I can appreciate the Soviet comparison but there were truly two different intentions.
We didnt want to annex Afghanistan as they did, and were just supposed to shove an American flag up their asses til they bled red white n blue.
I dont know, I do know we have many leaders in this country who have served, a good portion in the mid east, and whos kids have served or are serving.
It truly does no matter what types of approach are used with these idiots.
This is all too clear.
So, heads up everyone, the partisan bickering is at this point, a joke.
Nuking Mecca is starting to sound very reasonable

Whatever Romney said is just momentary noise. The lasting impression of our embassies getting attacked by people the administration supported reflects on Obama and that is a lasting scar that is still not finished playing out.
September 13th, 2012 at 3:03 pm
Patrick. You’re right.
Once the Brotherhood came to power in Egypt all aid should of stopped immediately.
Obama not seizing the opportunity we saw when Iranians protesting the dictatorship was another mistake.
His whole foreign policy doctrine of appeasement and apology has failed.
I’m looking at everything thats been tried by all administrations since the Arabs resigned from agreements with the U.N. (League of Nations/Balford Accord) immediately after they first agreed.
At that point, never mind that they conspired with N@zis,were bonkers before Christianity or the U.S. existed, there should of been no question as to what a bunch of two faced pricks they are.
Carter, Reagan, Clinton, Bush’s, even though the right has been more forceful, it doesnt matter anymore
They need the ass kicking they’ll never forget.
An ass kicking so severe that the next time something is deemed by them to be offensive to Islam they’ll just shut up and move on, just as when others religions are assaulted.
I’m seriously tired of their crap.
Some good ole street sense is in order.

The point that I was trying to make is that Romney has been trying to run a campaign where he can be all things to all people. Instead, by not embracing his core beliefs, he has been unable to convince voters to support him. As a wise man once told me, when all else fails, tell the truth.
September 13th, 2012 at 5:05 pm
As far as Arab Spring, most observers in America regardless of ideology were ecstatic when it occurred. I figured that this is because of the worth we attach, rightfully so for us, of democratic values.
At the time, if I remember right, I wrote here about the problems with giving people democracy who have no history of a belief in democratic values. With such an uneducated, poverty ridden populace, there is every reason to believe that in any of these nations, including Iraq and Afghanistan, people will soon elect a demagogue who will eliminate democracy, to the relief of their people.
Democracy is a fragile flower; I am grateful every day that we live in a place where it is cherished by most of us. But in some parts of the world, it is nothing but skunk weed.

My feelings about Romney have never been remarkable. And yes, he needs to be more assertive to the “right” demographics.
What I’ve learned about all the candidates in the last year left me less than hopeful and only wishing we’d get someone/anyone who’d steer more to the right of what were looking at now.
Your second statement is spot on although I expressed serious reservations about true middle east democracy when looking at the choice of candidates we saw.
If I’m correct Morsi and the Brotherhood were originally supposed to an unlikely combination to take place. There were reassurances everywhere in Egypt and here saying the Brotherhood would never take power.
They have a very very ugly rap sheet. So one has to wonder just what kind of deals were made should he win.
These people would never allow anything but a devout Muslim to be a candidate, never mind a leader.
Theological leadership has always been their problem and always consequently ours.
Time to clean some clocks.
Whats wrong with Skunk Weed ?
Muslims could all use a few hits

Just so I am clear then, you propose going Dresden on them?
As I have often said regarding Afghanistan, there is no obvious enemy, it is the general populace.
No uniforms, no identifying characteristics or mannerisms.
So you either decide you are going to kill each and every Egyptian, Yemeni or Libyan or none.
When people say get tough or fight to win, that is the definition when there is no obvious and identifiable opponent.
I just wanted to be clear what is meant by doling out “street justice”.

“Just so I am clear then, you propose going Dresden on them?”
You’re very unclear
“As I have often said regarding Afghanistan, there is no obvious enemy, it is the general populace.”
I guess the Taliban and poppy farmers are just a figment of my imagination
“No uniforms, no identifying characteristics or mannerisms.”
Yeah, the AK47 on Abduls shoulder doesnt mean a thing
“So you either decide you are going to kill each and every Egyptian, Yemeni or Libyan or none.”
How far up your arse did you reach for that crap ?
“When people say get tough or fight to win, that is the definition when there is no obvious and identifiable opponent.”
When democrats had spines they nuked the Japanese consequently saving millions of lives.
“I just wanted to be clear what is meant by doling out “street justice”.”
As a student of Kempo we have a doctrine that goes as follows.
If your enemy attempts to harm you ward off all blows.
If your enemy tries again let him know you can hurt him.
If your enemy tries again cripple him.
If you enemy tries a fourth time cripple him permanently.
If your enemy tries to kill you, kill him.
The majority of these people want us all dead because of this stupid and poorly done video.
http://ragesnpagesagainstthemachine.wordpress.com/2012/09/13/free-speech-but-very-poorly-done/#respond
Then the majority of those people must be beetch slapped.
I’m glad I was never in your foxhole.
September 14th, 2012 at 2:49 am
Greg Gutfeld of Fox News had a good idea, produce flags that emit a foul odor or gas when you burn it. That’ll fix these morons!
September 14th, 2012 at 2:51 am
This movie has really nothing to do with any of this. Its been out for six months or so, so why is it now suddenly an issue?
September 14th, 2012 at 10:02 am
Yeah Andy, like I said, its hardly worth killing anyone over, except the people who made it.
Not because it offends anyone but because its simply the worst film making I’ve ever seen.
Attack of the Killer Tomatoes was better.
The only reason all this crap started is because the radical elements in Egypt feel empowered these days with a Muslim Brotherhood government that encourages protest as long as its a protest in its favor.
Libya has no serious central governing authority
and each community/neighborhood/city is run by offshoot b1tchs of Al Queda.
The rest of the lemming like Islamic states are just following suit.
Its pretty plain to see that nothing has really changed since a few surveys taken in 04 showed that almost half of all Muslims from the Philippines to Cairo had favorable opinions of suicide bombings, Sharia, and OBL.(about 25% in the states)
In a nutshell, preferably Pistachio…
Our Americans have been murdered on American soil, yet we dont see Americans burning Mosques and killing Muslims.
Smelly flags ? Baby Backs n Beer ? Fromunda Cheese ?
At the flick of a bic they should blow up
September 14th, 2012 at 10:13 am
Hillary:
“The U.S. government has nothing to do with this film.”
Nonsense.
Our government instituted free speech as an inalienable right given by our maker. Our governments job is to protect the element of free speech behind the film, stupid or not.
If you and Barry are so distant from this film then stop fricking apologizing for it because thats exactly what these lunatics want to hear.
Instead you should be telling these morons to get used to it, its what we do.
