With just 57 days left to go before the November elections, I have some advice for Mitt Romney…, go wonk! One of the criticisms we have been hearing in the Media the last two weeks is the lack of details in Romney′s plans for fixing the economy. Mitt is a businessman, used to dealing with facts, figures and specific details, so there is no doubt that he has them. It is now merely a question of how best to convey such? I believe that Romney should consider taking a page out of the old Ross Perot playbook and buy TV time and stage an infomercial, complete with Power Point presentations and plenty of charts and graphs.
Had Perot not gone silly claiming that George H. W. Bush was trying to threaten him and his family, he might have done much better. But Perot did as well as he did do because he laid out in very clear terms the status of the nation′s economy and the impact of the National Debt. This, with just a few pie charts and other graphs, along with some straight talk. The American people want somebody to level with them, even if the news is bad.
Mitt Romney can easily do this himself, but together with Paul Ryan, the two of them could put together a nice one hour presentation that ′seal the deal′ and win them the White House in November. They can dissect and dismiss the false claims of Obama and Biden, and give a detailed plan on how a Romney-Ryan ticket would put the country back on track. Even with this, they would not have to be ultra specific, as many issues, like what tax loopholes to close, would be negotiable items when dealing with Congress. But an infomercial, a la Ross Perot, would give Romney and Ryan an opportunity to explain their case to the American people without the filter of a biased news media. So go wonk, Mitt!

I agree, but being wonkish alone will not complete the job at hand unless we tie those wonk numbers to real people and faces struggling at the market, the gas station, the pharmacy, in their kitchens, at the food banks, resorting to less healthy diets, overflowing treatment centers, rise in depression, domestic violence, taking cold showers, hanging clothes/not using dryer, kids losing allowance…
Both candidates need to use these examples of Americans streamlining and sacrificing as an exact example of what his 2012-16 administration will look like. It might be suicide for Obama to do this, but it would at least make both look human, and in touch for once.

On the one side Romney should do the above but on the other side continue to attack obama’s record(or lack thereof). In addition to these two lines of attack I would suggest he add a regional issue. For example, in Appalachia and parts of the country that depend on coal to generate energy I would site obama’s position, in Florida with seniors I would speak about Medicare and how obama removed $716 billion dollars from same to cover obamacare along with unemployment, I would speak in Nevada about the housing market, in Montana & N. Dakota I would talk about obama being anti-drilling & fracking, in areas that work to stock military arms & supplies I would talk about how obama cut the military budget, etc. He can add a 4th line of attack by showing what the country would look like if we continue with the way things are.

Ron, that is what all of those 15-30 second attack ads will do. Not only directly from the Romney campaign but also from the Super PACs.
To Micky’s point, I think a calm, sober fireside-like chat from Mitt and Paul Ryan, maybe done from Romney’s kitchen table, would be a perfect setting to convey a positive message. Lay out where we are, how we got here and what they intend to do about digging us out of the hole. Mitt can flip some pancakes while Paul slices them up showing federal budget.

Hahahaha Andy, lmao! I like the idea of an intimate & casual setting which would allow Americans to see another side of Romney while giving them the truths of the situation. It would be coming from someone like the common American instead of a politician trying to gain votes.
He has to take the gloves off and really go after obama and give it to him, but I wonder if he’s hesitant to do so because he fears the American people will pity obama. Mitt has to seal the deal!

P.S. Andy,
Can you find a nicer picture of Romney for heaven’s sake!?!

Flippin hot cakes ?
Havent we seen that already ?
The only thing moonbats understand is a swift kick in the glutes.
“I think” Romneys plan is to let Barry unload all the crap hes got in the first couple rounds because the blows seem ineffective enough to allow that. Then when Barrys pooped out and everyones tired of seeing old ladies pushed off cliffs and ears gettin bit off Romney in the last few weeks and debates will move in for the kill

Ron, it is a question of using a picture that is in the public domain. Although I do have a newer one showing both Mitt and Ann, which I did use recently.

Hey, that is Andy’s Go To pics of Romney, easily dressed in pinocchio nose or American flags depending on need for the day.
As for advertising, I can’t wait to see the polls in another week or two.
