Forget about the great speeches given by Mitt Romney, Marco Rubio or even Newt and Calista Gingrich! Everyone is talking about the Clint Eastwood speech featuring an empty chair, representing an invisible Barack Obama. The stunt has even led to a new term, Eastwooding, as people post pictures on the Internet of empty chairs. Eastwood was brought in as a ′mystery guest′ speaker. A good deal of buzz was created and we were all eager to see Clint hammer away at Obama in true Dirty Harry fashion. But after a lame version of the theme from the film, ″The Good, The Bad and The Ugly″, we instead got Eastwood the comedian. Not that such is all bad, Clint is a funny guy. Who else gets laughs from mere facial contortions as he squints, glares and scowls? You ca watch the video of Clint Eastwood and the empty chair below.

The empty chair bit was apparently ′borrowed′ by Clint Eastwood from an old dinner theater routine used by Morey Amsterdam, probably best known for playing Buddy Sorrell on ″The Dick Van Dyke Show″. But when you get right down to it, how better to represent Barack Obama than using an empty chair? We′ve always known Obama is an empty suit. Some of us think he is empty headed. So Clint just took it to the ultimate conclusion, Obama is just empty! Non-existent! Invisible! Obama is a complete ZERO!

So lighten up Chris Matthews and the rest of the ′Nattering Nabobs′! Clint Eastwood talking to an empty chair as seating an invisible Barack Obama was a good joke. Look at the results, we now have a new term, Eastwooding. Maybe he could have cut his routine down a few minutes after the Joe Biden joke, but hey, he′s Clint Eastwood! If he wants to go over his time allotment, who is going to stop him? So watch the video of Clint Eastwood and the empty chair below. Go ahead…, MAKE MY DAY!
