Queen Elizabeth II joined the ranks of the ′Bond Girls′ yesterday at the opening ceremony to start the 2012 London Olympics Summer Games. A spoof video features the latest James Bond actor, Daniel Craig, escorting the Queen to a helicopter, which transports them to the Olympic Stadium. Upon arrival, stunt-performers take over as the stunt-Queen and stunt-Bond leap out above the stadium to land gently thanks to their Union Jack parachutes. All under those well-known cords of the James Bond theme music! For me, this was the high point of last night′s events. In case you missed it, the video of the stunt is below.

All in all, the opening ceremonies were lukewarm to stinky. Produced by film director Danny Boyle, who won an Academy Award for ″Slumdog Millionaire″, the event began with a scene of England during agrarian times. A pastoral village is then transformed into the Industrial Age with smoke stacks and steam engines. Then, following the Queen′s actual arrival, the setting was that of a children′s ward at a hospital where J.K. Rowlings of Harry Potter fame terrorizes the kids with evil villains such as Captain Hook, the Queen of Hearts and Lord Voldemort. The children are saved by a platoon of Mary Poppins, descending into the stadium with their umbrellas, chasing away the nightmares. Too bad they did not chase away the remainder of the ceremony, which went right down ′the loo′ from that point.

My biggest disappointment, however, was with NBC and their coverage. While a billion or more people watched the ceremony live as it happened, NBC choose to air it on tape-delay here in North America to fetch a prime-time viewing audience. Naturally, I blame this outrage on Barack Hussein Obama, who has spent the last 3.5 years trashing American Exceptionalism, driving the United States into a second-rate power status. NBC is Obama′s best friend in the Media. NBC may as well stand for the National Barack Channel.

But at least for a few minutes, the 2012 London Olympics opening ceremony was a pleasure to watch, even if it was taped delayed. I was happy that Danny Bolye chose to use the musical score from the 1954 British film, ″The Dam Busters″, known as the Dam Busters March composed by Eric Coates, for the music while James Bond and the Queen were flying over London in their helicopter. As well as the famous James Bond theme by John Barry. So sit back and enjoy the video of Queen Elizabeth II and James Bond actor Daniel Craig as they parachute their way into the stadium. It really was the best part of the whole show!
