Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano announced today that we will no longer deport “certain” illegal aliens. This decree is effective immediately. No mention of any vote from Congress.
If our president and his appointees are simply going to pick and choose what laws they will and won’t abide, why do we even need a Congress?
We may as well just give the man a crown and be done with it.

This is *fantastic* news.
I had a friend who, in high school, discovered totally as a surprise to her that she was not a legal citizen. In every way she was an American, since she was 3 years old. The US had paid for her education, she was making contributions to society. She was on her way to college, and spoke only English and did not have any experience with any other country. Her friends were american. And until she turned 17 or so, she had zero idea she had immigration issues and wasn’t a citizen. And she freaked out and totally lost her 5hit when she found out.
Deporting her to some country she hadn’t been to since she was too young to even talk would have been barbaric, unjust, and a massive waste of taxpayer money. Oh, and the country in question was China, not Mexico.
If our president and his appointees are simply going to pick and choose what laws they will and won’t abide, why do we even need a Congress?
Why weren’t you complaining when Obama decided not to prosecute Cheney for crimes against humanity?
Cuz such discretion is kinda one of the perks of being in the executive branch. In fact… hmmm, yes. I seem to remember the previous president selectively not enforcing financial regulation and environmental laws, and beyond mere non-enforcement, violating telecommunications laws, privacy laws, torture laws, secrecy laws, due process laws, and international laws, not to mention treaties and conventions.

Oh for Heaven’s sake Me, you don’t have any illegal Chinese friends. You read that at Kos or Huffpo and are just having some trouble sorting out reality.
POTUS believes himself to be above the law and is just looking for new dem voters. ACORN will be setting up shop right next door to the new work permit office.

“Why weren’t you complaining when Obama decided not to prosecute Cheney for crimes against humanity?”
Because he had no case.
Hes got more reasons to fire Eric than he did to ever spend time on Cheney.
Also, the last thing Obama needs is far left loons like you giving him approval.
The mans is an idiot, but he’s not stupid.
June 15th, 2012 at 8:18 am
“Why weren’t you complaining when Obama decided not to prosecute Cheney for crimes against humanity?”
In addition, assuming you’re speaking of either war we’d of had to lock up every member of congress that voted yes. A majority of which were dems.
Hes buying votes, any halfwit idiot should know that and be honest about it for fear of looking even dumber.
He’s pi$$ed on our constitution and congressional electorate enough already.
If Bush, whos immigration policies I didnt care for either, had pulled this crap you guys would be on the streets rioting

“Me” seems to have missed the whole issue. The issue is not whether or not to deport someone. This issue is under what legislation does Obama have the right to exempt a whole class of people.
If there is no such loophole in the legislation, then Obama is acting unconstitutionally and should be impeached.
We had a similar situation on Libya when Obama committed the US to war without Congressional authority. Until Congress stands up for itself, we will have a monarchy, not a Presidency.
That sir is the issue.
June 15th, 2012 at 8:29 am
Don’t expect the liberals to worry about this. From Mao to Chavez to Obama, they have never met a socialist dictator they did not like.

Oh really? That sucks for my friend, who I’ll have to mention has been so marginalized by the right that she apparently isn’t even allowed to exist. But that’s how it works with Republicans– just stick your fingers in your ears and insist that whatever feels true therefore is true.
Here’s some reality: My friend exists. She came with her mom and a brother. They overstayed their visa. She did not have any idea until high school. This was in New York, before I met her. She was constantly freaking out that people would find out. She went to college and grad school, which is where I met her. Somehow or another she ended up getting her paperwork, which is when she told me the whole story. I don’t know how she ended up getting it, so don’t ask.
The fact that you don’t believe she exists is hilarious and pathetic at the same time.

Wow, what chuzpah. Aside from being completely ignorant about how an executive order works, you (the right) are also such massive hypocrites its’ amazing the shame hasn’t kept you bedridden and unconscious. (Hmm maybe it has…)
You remember the Republican’ darling “Unitary Executive Theory”? Probably not, because Republican collective memory runs only about three months, but if you do some research, you’ll find it was insisted upon by the previous administration– the same presidency that issued signing statements to not only (1) selectively enforce laws, but (2) to actually act directly against the law once he signed them.
Obama isn’t going anywhere near that extreme– he’s choosing, as the head of the executive branch, to direct his agency to not enforce a law– similar to how, say, GW Bush would regularly decide not to enforce numerous clean air and water laws on behalf of corporations who were poisoning the environment.
Douchey, but legal. That gave them enough time to rewrite the laws in the first place so that the next administration couldn’t decide to enforce them.
So boo frickin’ hoo. Cry me a polluted river.

So what ? I couldn’t give a sht. I live in Hi. I have mucho Chinese friends who all came here he right way
Your friends plight has little to do with the issue of a corrupt presidency that circumvents congress.
You’ve been quoted questioning congress many times so answer the question.
What good are they when the Congressional electoral protocol is sht canned ?

“Mr. President, College kids cant find work this summer”
Obama;
Well, my speech today should put them at ease.
June 15th, 2012 at 11:38 am
‘Me’ is happy now that Obama is acting like the Chinese. Just roll tanks over people who believe in freedom, law, and private property.
Like any good Socialist, ‘Me’ seeks a leader of steel. Someone who doesn’t wince at ordering whole populations to die for his perverse agenda.
June 15th, 2012 at 12:03 pm
The President of the United States can do all kinds of stuff. He’s the Chief Executive, you know?
When Bush was Pres., he did all kinds of stuff, and not a word from you turkies. Now Obama is Pres., and he does stuff, all of a sudden he’s “circumventing Congress.”
Stick Congress up your butt.
Bush too.
Romney too.
Limbaugh…he might be a little too big to fit up there, I don’t know.

Turkeys. Sorry.

Yes, because giving innocent children smuggled at young ages into this country without their understanding, consent,or even knowledge in most cases, who are currently serving in our military, who are contributing to America, who are living with the daily fear or deportation, a chance to participate in our society.
…and that’s equivalent to “ordering whole populations to die”.
You Andy, are a nutcase, and you need to seek professional help to confront and deal with your personal issues, which I can not even begin to imagine but are obviously profound and deep and causing you a lot of pain and clouding your reasoning skills to a level bordering on psychosis.
Seriously, you’re playing with fire. Get some help.
June 15th, 2012 at 1:33 pm
LOL. Always amused that liberals’ anecdotes about their odd personal lives are somehow relevant to broad national policies. They really are narcissists aren’t they?
June 15th, 2012 at 4:46 pm
Yeah, I’m a real weirdo with, y’know, having friends.
I guess that would seem odd to you.
And once again, you lose the argument.
June 16th, 2012 at 1:13 am
For starters, ‘Me’, the practice of giving citizenship to foreigners who serve in our Armed Forces is a pretty old one. In place well before Obama took office. The number of people who use this path to citizenship is fairly small compared to what Obama is promoting.
As for Socialists and their acts of mass murder, the history on that is also long and well established. The further you Liberal-Progressives take us down that road the more inevitable a holocaust becomes.
June 16th, 2012 at 8:25 am
To Rick Caird et al. who advocate impeachment for defying the Constitution, your arguments ring hollow (and I’m being generous by calling them arguments). President Obama is operating well within his authority as he has “the inherent power to execute prosecutorial discretion” as Daniel Kanstroom, a professor of immigration and human rights law at Boston College explained. Had the President granted legal status, you might have something. But he didn’t. What he did was to put their immigration status on hold until there’s a legislative fix.
Actually, he’s putting the ball back in Congress’s court, forcing them to end their filibuster games, do their job, and bring the Dream Act to a vote.
June 16th, 2012 at 8:38 am
“Actually, he’s putting the ball back in Congress’s court, forcing them to end their filibuster games, do their job, and bring the Dream Act to a vote.”
You’re funny. Dream Act failed Congress once already.
Its the election stupid
June 16th, 2012 at 10:33 am
Micky, I thought the Dream Act was a liberals’ idea of foreplay.
Ronald, I nominate you for the Barack Anemocracy Award (BAA) of the week.
Andy, you have a good point. These freeloaders like Me’s Chinese fictional character already have a path to citizenship. Join the military, put in your three years and pay your dues there. These America-last liberals wouldn’t ever dream of asking anything in return from our guests.
June 16th, 2012 at 12:55 pm
Micky, your argument would have merit if it had an iota of merit. Please provide the date, vote count, or any evidence that the “Dream Act failed Congress once already”. Or are you calling a filibuster a failure? Nothing? Didn’t think so.
June 16th, 2012 at 8:49 pm
My “Chinese fictional character”… so that’s two right wingers that deny the existence of my friend.
Any one else wanna jump in and deny that actual living breathing people exist to support your inarticulate, skewed world view?
Ah, “truthiness” dominates the rightpundit universe.
June 17th, 2012 at 4:57 am
Micky, considering you’ve posted on several other threads here since making your unfounded claim, it’s fair to say that I was correct that you had nothing to support your throw-a-rock-and-run nonsense that you posted here.
June 17th, 2012 at 7:01 am
Aww bullsht.
I’ve left you speechless countless times.
I’ll start logging these things and throw them in your mug ever chance I get
; Or are you calling a filibuster a failure? Nothing? Didn’t think so.”
Love the way you concur when no ones around. Much like jerkin off, yeah ?
Here ya go, courtesy of the liberal bible better known as The Huffington Post.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/12/18/dream-act-vote-senate_n_798631.html
“WASHINGTON — The Senate voted overwhelmingly in favor of bypassing a filibuster of the DREAM Act, but fell five votes short on Saturday, dealing a harsh blow to the bill that would have allowed some undocumented immigrants who came to the United States as children to gain legal status.
The final vote total was 55-41 — well above what would be needed for the bill to pass in a normal vote. Many previously undecided Democrats voted in support of the bill, as did Republican Sens. Richard Lugar (R-Ind.), Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) and Bob Bennett (R-Utah).
But others voted mostly along party-lines. Five Democrats voted against the bill: Sens. Ben Nelson (D-Neb.), Mark Pryor (D-Ark.), Jon Tester (D-Mt.), Max Baucus (D-Mt.) and Kay Hagan (D-N.C.), who switched her vote to a “no” at the last minute. Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.V.) skipped Saturday’s votes for a Christmas party.
Given the incoming Congressional leadership’s harsh views on immigration, the vote was likely the last chance to pass the bill for at least two years.”
Sit down n shut up idiot
June 17th, 2012 at 7:09 am
In addition, in my opinion, Bushs immigrations policies were just as bad. But at least he was honest when he said we need these workers.
In some cases true. But we must know whos in our country.
Anyone who argues that is really fckin stupid or not much of a citizen themselves
Sht head is pandering to people he doesnt give a sht about only because he realized his black base will be smaller this year.
Happy Fathers Day
June 17th, 2012 at 7:11 am
Whats even worse ?
The shthead said two years ago “he cant do this alone”
So Ronald …
…which is it ?
