A New York City school principal has stirred controversy by telling the outgoing Kindergarten class that they may not perform Lee Greenwood’s God Bless The USA at their “moving up” ceremony. The principal said, “We don’t want to offend other cultures.”
She apparently has no issue with another song in the kid’s repertoire – something called Baby by Justin Beiber. For those, like me, not familiar with this one, the NY Post describes it as a “flirty song about teen romance” with lyrics such as “Are we an item? Girl, quit playing.”
A spokeswoman for the Dept. of Education stepped in to defend the struggling principal regarding Greenwood’s song, saying the principal had found the lyrics “too grown up.” No word on those offended other cultures, but at least I can agree with her on the age appropriateness issue. But aren’t the lyrics to Beiber’s song too grown up for five year olds too?
What I really want to know is don’t they teach the kids My Country Tis of Thee and the Chicken Dance anymore?
It would certainly keep NY City principals out of hot water.

As in other cases the kids simply dont have to use the word “God”.
If there are cultures offended by the word they might want to read our Constitutions amendments.
Its a public school ?
That would be my reasoning for giving the children a choice.
Even though the framers were a majority of Christians they had the common sense to know that religion and politics never on based on each other. When combined, gives you countries like most in the middle east.
This will blow away unless some jerk keeps insisting whether or not we do or dont have the right to speak our minds and make that decision ours alone anywhere on US soil.
Most of our congressional leaders begin they’re day with a prayer to God. Those offended msay leave or ignore

We are talking about a kindergarten class here. Children of a very young age, 4-5 years old. So Justin Bieber is inappropriate.
Once again we see the difference between ‘teachers’ and ‘educators’. Teachers instruct students to learn and think for themselves. Educators are just propaganda tools of The State. Useful idiots, or should I say, UseLESS idiots, much like the ‘Idiot Obama.’

The principal does not want to offend immigrants. So, she suppresses the freedom of expression of the American schoolchildren and any parents or guests that would attend. If the principal gets away with this she will next ban display of the American flag. Then she can have children adopt foreign names so their foreign students feel more at home. Then she can have those female teachers wear the veil and robe.
As sick as this is I’m just surprised it hasn’t happened before. Especially somewhere like in TX in a border town. Are foreign kids offended by America while they sit in an American public school getting their free education? What a crock.
The principal needs to be fired she is a disgrace.

Liberals don’t think like normal people. They can find a boogie man anywhere and try to squash it. When Bush was in office, there were liberals who claimed they wouldn’t put up an American flag because people would think they support Bush.
If I really wanted to start trouble, I would say that’s putting ideology over country, but of course that would be wrong.
