In tonight’s season finale of Sons of Guns, Red Jacket Firearms works with Max Brooks, the author of The Zombie Survival Guide, in the hope of ‘making the best zombie-killing rifle in the world.’ Max shows up and explains to Will and Stephanie Hayden that the reason for his interest in zombies is that, when young, he was afraid of them, so he tried to figure out how he could defeat them.
Lewis Machine Gun
So, the first step was to decide what kind of gun would work best at splitting a zombie’s head open. First, they try a 12 gauge, then they try an Israeli Uzi, which they decide isn’t accurate enough to consistently split heads open. They then move onto an M16, and then a .22 magnum.
The whole team gets together, with Stephanie star-gazing at Max the whole time. The guys all agree that either the .22 or the M16 is the best choice; Steph seems happy just to look incredible. So, they set up teams. Unfortunately for Max, he gets Kris on his team, obviously a case of subtraction by addition.
In the meantime, a customer brings in a Lewis Automatic Machine Gun that needed to be refurbished. Since Will and the guys are working on the zombie gun, he lets Stephanie take the lead on the Lewis. Kris graciously offers her any assistance she might need, but since the floors seem clean, she decides to reject his offer. Later, in an astonishing plot twist, Kris solves a problem for Stephanie that allows her to fix it to the customer’s satisfaction.
Will decides to add a grenade launcher to the M16, then they add a sound suppressor since, as everyone knows, zombies are attracted to noise. Max decides to include a spike bayonet to the .22 for when they run out of gun ammo. The next 15 minutes of the program are taken up with shooting a bunch of plastic zombies to kingdom come.
To conclude the episode, Vince Buckles shows up. Will pays him off, and Vince rode his motorcycle off into the sunset. Kris asks Will, ‘What now?’ Will responds, ‘Find another gunsmith.’ In the last line of the season, Kris answers, ‘Yassuh.’

Whoa, the last time that I saw a Lewis Machine Gun it was mounted above the cockpit on the top wing of a Sowith Camel. Cool.

I think a delay in posting #1 caused a misunderstanding and it all went down hill from there.

Well too bad. We are going into short leash mode on this site until the election is over. Don’t want a repeat of 2008, and the vitriol is already beginning to annoy me.

What happened in 2008?
