The Starfish and the Spider – The Tea Party ‘Bible’

WASHINGTON - APRIL 15: Tea Party members hold a Tax Day protest against 'big government and to support lower taxes, less government and more freedom' April 15, 2010 in Washington, DC. In 2006, two Stanford MBAs, Ori Brafman and Rod Beckstrom, wrote The Starfish and the Spider: The Unstoppable Power of Leaderless Organizations. The book examines how recently there has been a trend to limit centralization in organizations and the change that this is bringing about. The title was developed because both creatures have similar shapes, but react differently to change. If a spider’s head is removed, it dies. If a starfish’s head is taken off, it grows another to replace it. Their basic premise is that more autonomous groups have a better chance at survival than do those which we’re more familiar with that have a traditional hierarchy.

Obama Considers Skirting Congress On Immigration Laws

With Democrats afraid to vote on anything controversial, like the Arizona immigration law, SB 1070, before November, Obama considers skirting Congress on immigrations laws. An internal memo from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) outlines how the government may give “relief” to illegal immigrants. Is Obama preparing to issue a ‘blanket’ amnesty to the 12 million illegal immigrants?

Tea Party & Conservatives Energized – Remember In November

If all you watched was the Main Stream Media (ABC-CBS-NBC-CNN-MSNBC-PBS) or read Time, Newsweek, the Washington Post and the New York Times, you might think that the Tea Party movement is in disarray. That they are in turmoil and becoming disheartened. Likewise, the editorial content from the MSM would play down the notion of the Republicans taking back the House in November. All you might see is Joe Biden or Nancy Pelosi saying that Democrats will win enough seats to stay in control. But as you will read, this is Left-Wing fantasy.

Low GDP Growth Ends Obama Recovery

The latest numbers from the Depart of Commerce yesterday indicate that GDP growth is much lower than expected. The first three months pointed to a brisk year with annual growth rate of 3.7%. But the new data from the second quarter shows signs that the U.S. economy has ground to a halt. After the 2Q numbers the adjusted annual GDP growth now stands at 2.4%. A minimum of 3% is considered needed just to sustain job growth.

Billy The Kid Pardon? NM Governor May Grant One After 130 Years

This is one of the strangest yet intriguing stories I’ve come across in a while. New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson is considering giving notorious outlaw Billy the Kid pardon. The kid was killed, so the legend says, in 1881 by Sherriff Pat Garrett. However descendants of the late Sherriff say no way.

Ethics Subcommittee Recommends Reprimand for Rangel

The Committee on Standards of Official Conduct (The Ethics Committee) of the U.S. House of Representatives hold a hearing about the charges against Rep. Charles Range ( D-NY) on Capitol Hill in Washington, July 29, 2010. Yesterday, the House Ethics Committee released the charges against Charles Rangel (D-NY), who, before the Ethics investigation began, was the Chair of the Ways and Means Committee, the body that has more to do with tax policy than anything else in DC, with the possible exception of the White House.

As we all saw, the list revealed, if proven, that Rangel misused the public trust. More specifically, for this person whose domain is to determine tax policy for the rest of us to trade campaign contributions for tax benefits seems beneath contempt. He also chose not to declare income from rental properties on his own tax return. How special. The determinant of tax policies decided that he was not going to follow the same rules as the rest of us.

Anthony Weiner Goes Crazy (Video)

Thursday, Anthony Weiner (D-NY) went ballistic and exploded in a raucous rant on the floor of the House as seen in the video below. At issue was the defeat of a $7.4 Billion dollar appropriation to provide health care to victims of 9/11. Only 12 Republicans voted in support of the bill. The reason the bill failed, was not the Republicans’ fault, however. The Democrats used a different procedure requiring a two-thirds vote rather than a simple majority because the Democrats did not want any amendments attached to the bill preventing illegal immigrants from being funded.
