Me

You gonna try and feed us that crap with a straight face ?
Obama has pee'd away more in less time than any POTUS before him in record time with record low accomplishments per dollar no matter how Harkin spins it.
Todays entitlements which were all strangling us are democrat 60s legislation's costing us the most and all hundreds of times over 60s era budget and forecasts.
Yeah, some votes from the right helped push them over but they were your ideas during the civil rights movement.

Get real

That's BS, as <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SPKNqNnXL9Y&feature=player_embedded" rel="nofollow">Thom Harkin</a> nicely explains.

Klo, you're right. Obama's gonna cave, big time. Just like he blinked before. And before that. And before that.

Pathetic.

Oh, BTW, Klo,

$1.05 Trillion that you can blame on Republicans happened while Clinton was president. So Bush only got $2.61 Trillion during the six years he had a friendly House and Senate. Obama surpassed that in his first 13 months, getting $2.979 Trillion added to the debt ceiling in 360 days between February 2009-2010.

Klo,

The GOP is only to blame for 4 of the 7 Bush-year debt limit increases, which is bad but generally mild compared to what Obama wants. I've posted the numbers before, which you obviously ignore because the facts are the truth. The GOP raised the debt ceiling six times when they controlled the House and Senate between 1995 through 2006. The Democrats raised the debt ceiling 6 times between September 2007 through February 2010. The last time was the single largest increase, $1.9 Trillion dollars.

The Republicans raised the debt limit a grand total of $3.615 Trillion dollars. The Democrats raised the debt limit $10.679 Trillion while they've been in control of Congress since 1940. The Republicans did raise the ceiling $6 Billion back when they wrestled control of Congress back in the 1950s, but within less than two years, they voted to DECREASE the debt ceiling $6 Billion.

Now, Obama wants $2.4 Trillion added, which would make it the largest in history. He and the Dems raised it $2.979 Trillion just in 360 days during Obama's 1st 13 months in office. So quit throwing Bush out there as a big spender. Obama beats Bush on spending/wasting money by a mile.

"If the Republicans also controlled the Senate and the White House, the debt limit would be raised and it would be no more than a footnote in the news, just like they did when Bush was president, seven times."

Klo, how many times is it going to take for this message to get thru your skull ?

During the Bush years we raised the ceiling with at least a minimal amount of confidence we could pay it back in time.
Thats why it never hit the front pages even though liberals control those pages.
It was a non story.
With the economy the way its today we should be talking about cutting up our credit cards. Not getting another one or extending our credit.

Its too bad our leaders cant see that we have reached the light at the end of the tunel and its time to trade in the Cadillac for a 4 cylinder mini van and start eating pork n beans or mac n chees w/weenies and water instead of soda for a while.
Were the most spoiled rotten batch of people on the planet who cant handle the slightest degradation or sacrifice to our lifestyles.
I mean that as far as the government and the individual household goes.
I collect food from two markets here for two church pantries that hand it out free every weekend.
You would not believe the waste, the amounts of food we throw out just because the slightest imperfection or minutes past the sell date.
Much of it I have to sign a waiver protecting the market from liability. Yet theres absolutely nothing wrong with food thats been frozen before the expiration date or sold a couple days after the sell date.
It makes me sick to see the hundreds of dollars in food these stores throw away knowing someone has to recover the cost somehow and someone is starving.
I did the math and figured all the markets across the country must throw away a couple billion a year in perfectly good food.
They wont let you have it no matter what unless it meets the conditions I mentioned above.
But hey, even though that steak is dated yesterday and you didnt freeze it yesterday doesnt mean its spoiled already.
Doesnt matter.
I've seen hundreds of dollars of perfectly edible food go to the trash compacter.
And you can bet your ass when they're not looking it goes right in my trunk.
I'm rambling.
Sorry

If the Republicans also controlled the Senate and the White House, the debt limit would be raised and it would be no more than a footnote in the news, just like they did when Bush was president, seven times.

It is just as simple as that. The Republicans are politicizing the issue, it's something most Americans don't know about and it has an ominous appellation, so the Republicans are using it to attempt to advance their agenda. The Republicans are willing to bring the economy down in order to get what they want. They don't care about the American people, or how much suffering they might cause. They do not mind if the economy crashes, because they see this as their best hope to retake power in 2012.

We'll see how this plays out. Obama will probably cave, like he has before. I don't know what the Senate will do. Obama sees himself as some sort of great compromiser who is going to bring us together, but what he doesn't see is, you just don't compromise with evil. Also I wonder who is advising him at this point. His economic advisors have all quit. If he keeps on he might as well switch parties. He is behaving sort of stupidly because Social Security is so sacrosanct with the American people that anyone who messes with it is going to pay a political price. President Bush and the Republicans found this out the hard way, and Obama is just stupid not to see that if he agrees to try to broker some sort of deal that messes with Social Security it will play into the Republicans' hands and put the political onus on him and not them.

Maybe Obama will surprise us all. He is not exactly FDR. If you wanted FDR, you sure don't got it.
