lisab, on a related not to what you wrote, a friend asked me to review his model to see what I'd find. I told him that when I used multinomial logit, I found that his hypotheses were repudiated. He said he didn't understand m-logit, but could I verify his hypotheses if I just used crosstabs. I took an aspirin.

btw, my favorite variable with education is that it turns out that the one thing that correlates with sat scores is how many books are in your parent's home.

Hey Arriba,

i hope you are feeling well.

i just got buried in a statistical talk. :(

my thesis is all about stochastic variables, and how to handle non-linear correlation, non-normal/non-gaussian distributions, and non-independent variables ...

and this guy just kept asking me,

man: "why are the test scores correlated?"

me: "because they are"

man: "but why?"

me: "maybe because all the children have the same teacher, they are just correlated."

man: "but why?"

me: "well, if they had the same teacher, then you would expect them to be exposed to the same material"

man: "but there could be other reasons to, exogenous and endogenous reasons"

me: "yes ... there could be."

man: "how do you know why they are correlated?"

me: "i do not care why they are correlated, i just care that they are correlated and the distributions are somewhat stationary"

man: "but don't you want to know why?"

me: "not really, as long as long as the distributions are fairly stationary"

man: "in education we want to know why"

me: "ok, you can research why, i just want to show how you handle the mathematics.

man: "but what does it matter if you don't know why?"

me: "because the multi-nominal distribution will give you insights that you would not otherwise have about the children's progress, and if you assume the children are independent you will get the wrong insights"

man: "i don't understand"

me: "because your broken Y chromosome only has 78 genes on it ..."

man: "but why?"

arrrrrrrrrrrrg ... it is so frustrating to try to show a complicated example and someone keeps interupting.

fm, if what you wrote in #3 is right, and I always assume everything you write is correct, that would be a major mistake for the rtl groups. Generally, for groups that are non-economic to succeed in public policy, they need to have bipartisan support. Otherwise, when they are subsumed within a party, they become a captive to that party (like civil rights groups)and never win.

Indiana Right to Life has set a national precedent by adopting a new policy resolution denying its endorsement to any Democrats.

Indiana Right to Life is forwarding its newly-adopted resolution to pro-life organizations across the nation and says it hopes other groups will abide by the same principles.

There are 3 so-called pro-life Democrats from Indiana in the House. All voted for ObamaCare.

The fallout continues. You're not alone Bart!!
