Edward.
You really need to get a clue.
Do you have any idea what would happen should Israel be destabilized or taken down ?
Do you have any idea given the powder keg that the middle east is right now what would happen if we lost our only ally over there ?
Right now Pakistan and India are at each others throats,Iran may be constructing nukes, Al Queda and the Taliban are organizing in N. Pakistan, Iraq is just beginning to stabilize.
The Palestinians simply don't have the power to do what they would like to do. The real powers at play here are Iran, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Syria. They would love to get past the status quo that we've seen for decades and finally disintegrate Israel and the Palestinians are just the mechanism they will employ to achieve that.
This is why no surrounding Arab nations will step in and actually help to settle the Palestinians.
They want them to keep appearing oppressed just enough so that the world can point fingers at Israel and gain support for whatever action they take against Israel.
Ridding the middle east of our only ally there in the war on terror would quickly allow radical elements there to begin the type of anarchy they wish to impose that would allow them to disrupt the flow of oil to America.
At that point all the foreclosures, bailouts, automaker collapses and unemployment will seem like a walk in the park compared to what would happen if the country lost its life blood.
In addition you can bet that all our efforts in Iraq will of been for nothing as the area will quickly go back to what we were seeing a few years back.
If Israel goes down not only would it be the second time the world has seen anything like the holocaust but the entire radical community in the middle east would be emboldened.

As far as Obama goes, he really only started speaking out on Israel during his campaign for expedient purposes and like it or not will have to deal with an enraged Muslim population who think he should side with them.
As much as I believe he is a Christian I still see people whom he will perceived him as being obligated to be sympathetic to Muslims because he has Muslim and radical Muslim relatives.
Any support he offers to Israel may be seen by these people as treasonous and could be met with hostility.
I'll bet my left nut that he thinks about that.

Also, he will also be under pressure from bleeding heart moonbats who view the Palestinians as victims and those who have the same sentiments as you so I seriously doubt that he will be as strong an ally to Israel as Bush, his dad, or Ronald Reagan were.
Even Jesse Jackson said that we'd better not count on Obama being any big help to Israel.

Why do the idiots on the left hate it when Israel defends itself? Like it or not, they have a right to defend their nation.

It matter not what Obama says or does, Israel will continue to defend its self. Hamas is a terror group. They are not a government. Israel has said it will not allow its country to be destroyed without a fight.

The libs love the terrorist because they see them as victims.

But Obama has made no official statement on the conflict in Gaza, other than "we can only have one president at a time."

Both Obama and Biden have strong records supporting Israel.

Tell me, specifically, what it is that should make me believe that Obama will not support Israel. His name?

Also, people who are losing their homes, facing eviction, losing their jobs, people who have families and do not know which way to turn, probably do not have much time to worry about Gaza. It will not be as easy as it has been in the past to use the "War On Terror" to divert the public's attention from domestic issues.
