Would Ted Poe and Freedom Caucus Survive the Zombie Apocalypse?

The big news today is that Rep. Ted Poe (R-TX) has resigned from the House Freedom Caucus as he had wanted to vote for the Paul Ryan health care bill. According to Rep. Poe, he was not alone as perhaps a dozen or more members of this very-Conservative, GOP caucus, were ready to support the bill, primarily to end Obamacare and to give President Donald Trump a legislative victory. However, the Freedom Caucus votes as a unified block and the majority, led by Rep Jim Jordan (R-OH) and Chairman Rep. Mark Meadows (R-NC), opposed the American Health Care Act. This majority stood on principle, which is a fine and noble thing. But, very often principle does not get the job at hand done. A good example of this was seen last night in our favorite Zombie Apocalypse TV series, ″The Walking Dead″.

Postmortem – Health Care Vote Canceled

Speaker Paul Ryan decided late yesterday that the health care vote should be canceled. This decision was made after he spoke with President Donald Trump and informed him that they were still short enough votes to pass the American Health Care Act, or AHCA. With no Democratic votes to count on, House Republicans needed 216 votes committed from their own party. Ryan and his leadership team did not have it. After several GOP members left Congress to accept roles in the Trump administration, there were 237 left. According to several accounts in The Media, as many as 25-30 House Republicans were going to vote ′No′ on the AHCA. Most of the No-Votes would have come from members of the ′Freedom Caucus′.

Paul Ryan – Do or Die on GOP Healthcare Bill

Today may be ′Do or Die′ for Speaker of the House Paul Ryan as Congress prepares to vote on the GOP Healthcare Bill. Nicknamed ′RyanCare′, the American Health Care Act of 2017 may be headed for rocky shores as many Republicans in the House of Representatives still have issues with it. President Donald Trump has worked hard in trying to negotiate enough compromises to satisfy the various GOP factions. But it is starting to look like that he has decided that the AHCA just is not worth expending any more time or political capital on. President Trump was upset that the scheduled vote on Thursday night was postponed and wants a vote today. If the vote fails, then he is ready to move on and start working on tax reform, which many say he should have done first anyway.

President Trump Vindicated by Devin Nunes on ‘Incidental’ Surveillance

The Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, Rep. Devin Nunes, says that there was ″incidental collection″ of communications of President-Elect Donald Trump and his transition team just after the 2016 elections. This news does vindicate President Trump after his observation of various news media stories about how Trump Tower may have been ″wiretapped″ by the Obama administration. Even when pressed by reporters, Nunes said he could not ″rule out″ the possibility that Barack Obama or his senior staff were aware of this ′incidental′ monitoring. Nunes also confirms that the reports he has seen, numbered in the dozens, had nothing to do with Russia nor the Russian hacking probe. Here is what the hub-bub is all about…

Judge Neil Gorsuch Faces 3rd Day of Senate Hearings

Today, 10th District Court Judge Neil Gorsuch will face his third day before the Senate hearings for his confirmation to the Supreme Court. After some 13 hours of being grilled by the Senate Judiciary Committee yesterday, Gorsuch returns as Democrats continue to try to derail his appointment. They do not like the fact that Gorsuch is a ′Constructionist′, who does not believe that the courts should write legislation from the bench. Democrats like Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) believe the Progressive mantra that the US Constitution is a ′living document′ and can be bent and twisted by popular trends. That there is no such thing as right or wrong.

Media Ignores Illegal Immigrants in Rockville H.S. Rape Case

Last week Thursday at the Rockville High School in Rockville, Maryland, two illegal immigrants raped a 14-year old girl. The suspects, Henry Sanchez-Milian, 18 and Jose O. Montano, 17, have been arrested by police and are being charged as adults with multiple rape and assault crimes. The two alleged rapists were Freshman students at the school, due to their lack of English language skills. The victim is a legal immigrant and also a Freshman at the school. Montgomery County and school officials are trying to deflect any blame for admitting the illegals into the school system. The county and township are in the midst of a debate as to whether or not to declare ′Sanctuary′ status, providing a safe haven for illegal immigrants. The news media has ignored this case until yesterday, after Sean Spicer raised the issue during a White House press briefing. Parents in Rockville are hopping mad over this horrendous crime.

FBI James Comey – Most Leaked News ‘Dead Wrong’

FBI Director James Comey appeared before the House Intelligence Oversight Committee, along with NSA Director Admiral Mike Rogers. For some 5 hours, they testified before Congress, saying very little in the public forum. They had few facts to offer as most of the questions revolve around classified material and ongoing investigations. However, we did learn a couple of things. First, there is an ongoing probe into possible links between the Trump campaign, including some former staff members and some individuals who were never part of the campaign, with the Russian government. Secondly, Comey, himself, said that most of the leaked information that has been appearing in various news reports is ″dead wrong″. He also stated that neither the FBI nor the Justice Department had any evidence of the Obama administration ordering surveillance on Donald Trump. Of course, he could not comment if any member of Team Trump was recorded resulting from surveillance on foreign nationals by other spy agencies, which seems to be the case for Michael Flynn.

Another Busy Week for President Trump

This will be yet another busy week for President Donald Trump. Unlike Barack Obama, President Trump is a one-man dynamo, working everyday and long hours at that! He actually holds meetings with people to listen to what they have to say. A big change from the last 8 years! Today, Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch heads to Capitol Hill as his confirmation hearings begin. FBI Director James Comey will also be on ′The Hill′ to share info on the alleged surveillance of Trump and alleged ties with Russia. The President will later be traveling to Louisville, Kentucky to pitch the GOP health care plan, which may be voted on in the House this Thursday. We may also see more chatter and discussion on the budget the White House submitted last week, which has stirred up all sorts of ire among the weak minded.
