Obama celebrates Hate on Easter 2013

While most Christians attended church services heard messages of love and redemption on Easter Sunday, 2013, the Obama family celebrated at the church of hate. Actually, it was the St. John′s Episcopal Church, also known as the Church of Presidents. Pastor Rev. Luis Leon delivered a diatribe condemning Conservative Christians, accusing them of backwards thinking. ″it drives me crazy when the captains of the religious right are always calling us back… for blacks to be in the back of the bus… for women to be back in the kitchen… for gays to be back in the closet… for immigrants to be back on their side of the border.″ Obama seemed pleased with the sermon, smiling as he left the church, thanking Rev. Leon and shaking his hand. Would Obama shake hands with Jesus Christ if he had the chance?

Religion vs Science on a Happy Easter Sunday 2013

Happy Easter Sunday 2013! Today, Christians from all around the world will celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. A triumph over death and original sin. An important day for religion, faith and belief. But not everyone agrees. Aside from those of other religions, we also have those who choose not to believe in God at all. Secular Humanists like to say that science has displaced religion. That reason trumps belief, logic over faith. So are science and religion really so irreconcilable?

Florida Atlantic University issues Jesus stomping apology

Florida Atlantic University has issued a Jesus stomping apology to Ryan Rotela, the student who refused to stomp on the name of Jesus Christ. Governor Rick Scott has ordered an investigation into the matter which was started by Professor Deandre Poole, who is also the Vice Chair for the Democrat Party in West Palm Beach. Prof. Poole teaches a course in Intercultural Communications at FAU′s Boca Raton campus. The exercise was from a textbook, ″Intercultural Communications: A Contextual Approach, 5th Edition″, which had students write the name of Jesus on a piece of paper, then place it on the ground and stomp on it with your feet. Somehow, this act is suppose to encourage discourse and add knowledge. All it really demonstrates is how fouled up our education system is!

Obama Satan Look-Alike on The Bible History Channel Series

A fresh brouhaha has erupted over the Obama Satan look-alike seen this past Sunday on The Bible mini-series aired on The History Channel. Moroccan actor Mohamen Mehdi Ouazanni portrayed Satan during the latter part of the third episode as Jesus Christ fasted for 40 days and nights in the wilderness. Twitter and other social media went wild over the resemblance between Barack Hussein Obama and the Satan character. Even Glenn Beck had fun with this one! Naturally, the serie′s producers, Mark Burnett and his wife, Roma Downey, said it was not their intention to have Satan look like Obama. What do you think?

Pope Francis, the First Jesuit Pope

Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio is now Pope Francis, the first Jesuit Pope to be elected by the College of Cardinals. He is also the first Pope born in Latin America, hailing from Buenos Aires, Argentina, where he was archbishop. The Papal Conclave 2013 elected him after five ballots with the white smoke from the roof of the Sistine Chapel signaling to the world that Vatican City has a new leader. Already he is being called ′The People′s Pope′ due to his humble lifestyle, shunning the trappings of office. As Cardinal Bergoglio, he opted to live in a small apartment instead of the archbishop′s palace and ride a public bus to work rather than use a private limo. As it turns out, Pope Francis was the runner up during the last Papal Conclave in 2005 which elected Pope Benedict XVI. So what will the new Pope mean to the world′s 1.2 Billion Catholics?

Papal Election begins as Conclave 2013 holds 1st Vote

The eyes of some one billion-plus Catholics are on the Sistine Chapel as the papal election begins today with Conclave 2013 holding its first vote. Now that the 115 members of the College of Cardinals are gathered in Vatican City, the process for selecting a replacement for the now retired Pope Emeritus Benedict VXI will start. Cardinal Angelo Sodano is calling for unity for the Church, which has had some rough times over the recent decades. An early front runner, according to InTrade, is Cardinal Angelo Scola of Milan. The Papal Conclave held their traditional mass this morning and we could have a new pope should one get the necessary 2/3rds plus 1 ballots in the first vote to be held this afternoon. Thousands of Catholics and the curious are watching the roof of the Sistine Chapel for the signal of either black smoke, meaning no one won, or white smoke announcing that a new pope has been elected.

The Bible Miniseries on The History Channel

Just in time for the Passover and Easter, The Bible miniseries 2013 has begun on The History Channel. The 5-part, 10-hour series will cover both the Old and New Testaments. Produced by the husband and wife team of Mark Burnett and Roma Downey, the series began last night taking us from Noah telling the story of Adam and Eve while adrift in his Ark, through Abraham founding the nation of Israel, to Moses leading his people across the Red Sea out of Egypt and receiving the Ten Commandments. Filmed in Morocco, the $22 million-dollar presentation features an international cast with the Portuguese actor Diogo Morgado playing the role of Jesus Christ. For Burnett and Downey, who plays Jesus′ mother, Mary, in the series, The Bible is an important project for them as they are both Christians and are seeking to reverse a trend of biblical ignorance among younger Americans. Will they succeed in turning the tide of secular humanism?

Pope Resigns, Who Will Be The Next Pope?

With yesterday′s news that Pope Benedict XVI resigns at the end of the month, the speculation begins on who will be the next pope? The Sacred College of Cardinals will gather in the Sistine Chapel and vote to select a new pope, as they are ′princes of the Church, the pope is chosen by way of an elected monarchy. As about 42% of the world′s 1.5 Billion Catholics live in Latin America, many see the 118 cardinals choosing a new Latino pope or from Africa or Asia where Catholicism is growing. Some other early favorites are Cardinal Peter Kodwo Appiah Turkson from Ghana, Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio from Brazil and Cardinal Oscar Andres Rodriguez Maradiaga from Honduras. Other contenders include Cardinal Francis Arinze of Nigeria, Cardinal Marc Ouellet from Canada, Cardinal Christoph Schoenborn of Austria and Italian Cardinal Angelo Scola. Even Cardinal Timothy Dolan of America and Cardinal Antonio Tagle from the Philippines are considered wild cards as potential new popes. So how will a new pope be chosen and elected?
