Audi ‘Green Police’ Super-Bowl Commercial: Best of 2010?

Here is my vote for best Super Bowl commercial of 2010. See the video of the Audi Green Police ad which lampoons environmentalists in order to pitch a green car to a skeptical audience.

Audi Super Bowl Ad

The Green Police commercial is one of those advertisements which withholds the product until the very end. That keeps people watching and laughing in agreement until the actual product is finally revealed. It is a time-proven technique and effective in the context of a Super Bowl in which the ads themselves are part of the show.

Obama Is 9 Million Jobs Short

You wouldn’t notice the lack of employment in the American economy unless you’re one of the 9 Million people who, according to Obama’s campaign promises, should have a job but doesn’t.

That could get your attention. There’s something about a lack of paycheck where one should be that demands observation. It’s one of those universal truths, along with dry socks being good and anchovy pizza being bad.

Although Obama is jumping up and down in little girl hysterics about the unemployment rate dropping this month from 10 to 9.7, there is a mammoth crater in the ground that jobs once filled. And surrounding that crater is a ravine that should be humming with the 3.5 million jobs Obama promised to create. And around the ravine is the rest of us schlubs still working and paying our mortgage, wondering if we’ll fall into the ravine or trip into the crater.

Practice your balance and invest in cleats and ankle weights. It’s going to be a rough three more years.

The Embarrassment Of (and that is) The IPCC

The only thing actually warming at the IPCC is the stain of humiliation on their cheeks. If the global warming movement can no longer rely on scientists to keep their fabricated numbers secret, it may be left with only one truly credible spokesperson - the saliva-thick speech of Ed Begley, Jr.

Don’t stare at his hair. He doesn’t like it.

News has now emerged that IPCC established their claims of ice melting on mountaintops from a magazine article and a college student’s paper. It’s that easy to prove the sky is falling. And in doing so, reap government grants.

Had I known, I would have pursued a career in science, which pays far better than writing. But I had this misconceived notion it took actual scientific study, precise measurements, theoretical knowledge, and accurate data to propose a hypothesis like global warming that demanded the world crumble to it’s knees. It appears, however, world domination is really just one step away from a day’s light reading.

AC/DC Animal Rights Group Battle Over Concert And Curlews

Who knew that a Curlew could be such a party pooper? Well maybe not the Curlews themselves but advocates for the Curlew. The rock band AC/DC, animal rights groups say, is a danger to birds that nest near the Wels Airport where the concert is to be held.

The animal rights group BirdLife is threatening legal action if AC/DC goes ahead with its sold out show in May. Some 80,000 tickets sold out in a matter of just hours; but advocates for the Curlew don’t really seem to care too much about that. They fear the loud music would somehow endanger the birds.

Cap and Trade – Do We Have to Trade the Environment for Jobs?

Newspapers and internet sites were replete in the last few days with how important it is to pass worldwide environmental restrictions and the adverse consequences to Gaia if we delay.

Well, let’s assume that we should reduce our oil intake. Then, let’s pretend we had a president who actually cared that people were out of work or under-employed. Let’s also pretend that anyone in government cared about anyone who works with their hands. Let’s all play and figure what could be done.

This is important since I assume virtually everyone can see the benefits in reducing the demand nationally for oil and gasoline. For one thing, we would no longer have to cater to any of the crazy countries in the Middle East, each of which is intent upon taking as much money as possible from us for their own craven needs. We wouldn’t have to care as much if they decide to act like lunatics, as they do now. Maybe, just maybe, when daddy leaves the room, they might start behaving themselves.

Chevy Volt Dancers (Video)

“E is for electricity, V for Chevy Volt and Me, electric car – just plug it and see…” – three ladies and a breaker guy entertained for 10 days the visitors of the Chevy Volt display at the LA Auto Show. Chevrolet will begin production in 2010 in Michigan. Apparently the marketing folks at General Motors (recently popular as Government Motors because it is running on bailout money) decided to pick some random taxpayers from the street to do the work at the podium. The performance gave hope to every boy and girl who is secretly dancing in their closet that someday they will have a chance on the big stage too. The song was performed by somebody sounding like Phoebe from Friends and the lyrics would make every rhyming preschooler proud. I wonder what the engineers of the high tech car would think about the way the image of their product is presented. Enjoy the performance in the video, you paid for it with your taxes.

Obama’s Cap-and-Trade Tax Takes Us Back To The Dark Ages

The Cap-and-Trade tax reminds me of a medieval Catholic indulgence – a practice in which the sinners are excused from their mischief after they do some good work. In the Dark Ages, forgiveness was granted for any sin if the offender paid a good chunk of gold to the church. Greedy church officials collected mountains of treasures and sinners were running wild. And guess what? People didn’t like it. The rotten practice of “paying for forgiveness” is considered the main cause of the Protestant Revolution. People stood up for the moral. The message was clear – just do not sin. There are things money can’t buy…

California: Flat Screen TV Ban, They’re Bad For The Environment

This is what they say in California; big screen TV’s are bad for the environment. Of course they are; how could something that people across all political and socioeconomic spectrums love so much not be bad for something? Then again we are talking about California. Banning flat screen TV’s is just the next logical step for a state that has been out of regulatory control for a long, long time.

California regulators are trying to pass the first ban on flat screen TV’s; they say the televisions are energy consuming monsters that need the long arm of state government to regulate which ones you can buy and have in your home. It’s for the good of the planet after all.
