Osama bin Laden son-in-law, Sulaiman Abu Ghaith, has been taken into custody by the United States and will stand trial in New York City for his role in the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center and Pentagon. The Al Qaeda spokesman was initially captured in Turkey and was being transferred to Kuwait via Jordan where he was turned over to FBI agents. The decision to bring him to face justice in the U.S. court system rather than the detention center at Guantanamo Bay is something of a mystery. One would think that this character should be thoroughly interrogated as he probably knows a great deal about the inner workings of Al Qaeda. But now, thanks to Barack Obama and his Justice Department flunky, Eric Holder, Abu Ghaith will enjoy all of the privileges of a U.S. citizen.

On Wednesday we got to witness one of the unique gems of our political system, a filibuster in the U.S. Senate! Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) spoke for nearly 13 straight hours, delaying the confirmation vote to appoint John Brennan as the new head of the CIA. The issue which turned the hash-tag #standwithrand into all the rage on Twitter was the policies of Barack Obama on the use of domestic drones. Specifically, can drone strikes be carried out within the borders of the United States against potential terrorists? The White House and other administration heads, like Eric Holder, have been ambiguous as to whether such actions are unconstitutional? The junior Kentucky Republican senator had a few allies helping him out during his filibuster, including Mike Lee (R-UT), Ted Cruz (R-TX) and even one Democrat, Ron Wyden (D-OR). But none of the ′Old Guard′, like Lindsay Graham of South Carolina, participated, opting instead to attend a dinner with Obama.

Songwriter and Socialite, Denise Rich, has renounced her U.S. citizenship, adopting Austria as her new home to avoid paying millions of dollars in taxes. The move was made last November, adding to the growing list of Americans fleeing the country. Since Barack Obama took office, the number of people renouncing their citizenship has increased more than 600%, with roughly 157 leaving the U.S. each month. What may be most telling about this case is that Denise is the ex-wife of Marc Rich, a billionaire who himself was indicted for tax evasion in 1983. While the couple divorced in 1996, Denise still worked at securing a pardon from then President Bill Clinton. The Grammy Award winning writer has been a major fund raiser and contributor to the Democrat Party. All of her efforts paid off when Eric Holder cleared the way for Clinton to pardon Rich as the president left office.

Texas Governor Rick Perry is calling Barack Obama ′Nixonian′ and saying that Operation Fast and Furious is worse than Watergate. Perry said as much Sunday during an appearance on the CBS News show, ′Face The Nation′, hosted by Bob Schieffer. Perry is critical of Attorney General Eric Holder for withholding Justice Department documents on the gun running program by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms which led to the death of Border Patrol Officer Brian Terry. Perry says that the Obama White House and their allies in the Media have been deliberately trying to keep the story out of the public′s eye. Obama proclaiming executive privilege to block the further release of documents, which has led to the House Judiciary Oversight Committee to find Eric Holder in contempt of Congress is just the latest outrage and abuse of power.

The big meeting late yesterday between Congressman Darrell Issa (R-CA) and Attorney General Eric Holder failed to bring any resolution to the issue of transparency over Fast and Furious, the Department of Justice gun tracking program. This now sets the stage for a vote today in the House of Representatives to find the head of the Justice Department in contempt of Congress. Issa has requested thousands of documents concerning the gun-walking program run by the Phoenix office of the ATF, which resulted in at least two weapons being used in the murder of U.S. Border Patrol agent Brian Terry. At the heart of the matter are some 1,300 documents related to a letter from February 4, 2011 which claims that the Justice Department had no knowledge of the ATF operation which allowed U.S. firearms to be sold to Mexican drug cartels.

Wednesday was a great day. Like so many of us, I spent it gloating shamelessly over the Wisconsin election. The old media and the rest of the left didn’t want to talk about it much and by Thursday morning they had wiped their noses and moved on.

OK. That’s fine with me. 24 hours of gloating is ample. Besides, Thursday has been a pretty busy day too. Eric Holder faced off against a clearly frustrated Darrell Issa. Issa and the rest of his committee have been trying to get answers from Holder for a year or more about Fast and Furious but continue to get nothing but wide-eyed arrogance and “it wasn’t me.”

When I entered the world of political discourse and commentary, I found some people who liked to call me a racist. This was new for me, and I certainly didn’t want to let a charge like that stand. So I would set about proving them wrong by pointing out my black friends, my support of equality for all, my admiration for Martin Luther King… It seems silly now.

On Monday, Barack Obama challenged the U.S. Supreme Court, warning them not to repeal his health care program. He said ″what would be an unprecedented, extraordinary step of overturning a law passed by a strong majority of a democratically elected Congress.″ Overflowing in arrogance, Obama thinks the nation′s high court would be playing politics if they rule against Obama-Care as being unconstitutional. On Tuesday, a three-judge panel of the U.S. 5th Federal Court of Appeals issued a demand from the Obama administration, through Eric Holder and the Department of Justice, to explain, in writing, whether or not the White House believes the Supreme Court has the authority to overturn any law passed by Congress? Holder must deliver a three-page, single-spaced explanation by noon Thursday.
