Zombie Apocalypse on The Discovery Channel

The Discovery Channel had a Zombie Apocalypse marathon on last night to showcase a new series, ′Surviving Zombies′ and a new documentary, ′Zombie Preppers′. Surviving Zombies: The Apocalypse Field Guide, focuses on a company, Zombie Tools, started by three men, Max, Chris and Joey in Missoula, Montana. They primarily fashion blade weapons, mostly swords and spears, to give zombie hunters ′an edge′, pardon the pun, to deal with the undead when the bullets run out. In Zombie Preppers, we look into the lives of 4 people who are seriously preparing for a zombie apocalypse, as well as several egg-head PhDs who have ′researched′ the possibility of such a scenario. One fellow, Dr. Steven Schlozman from Harvard Medical School, really thinks that a zombie pathogen is a potential threat to humanity.

Doomsday Preppers – Let Her Rip, plus Apocalypse 101 Premier

We had a double-header on the National Geographic Channel last night with an all new episode of Doomsday Preppers, entitled ′Let Her Rip′, followed by the premier of a new series, Apocalypse 101. On Doomsday Preppers, we were introduced to three families, including one a descendent of the famous Hatfield family and another ′Liberal′ prepper. While the Hatfields plan on using a home-made trebuchet, that′s catapult to you non-French-speakers, the Liberals hope that their spirit drumming and herd of goats will keep them alive. Apocalypse 101 featured four non-active duty Marines who started a survival supply and consulting company in eastern Colorado. Seems that NatGeo TV is looking to keep cashing in on this popular theme.

Doomsday Preppers – Solutions Not Problems

It was fitting last night that NatGeo TV aired Doomsday Preppers episode, Solutions Not Problems, at the same time as Barack Obama′s State of the Union address. Both of our featured preppers are preparing for an economic collapse, which is closer to happening should Obama increase taxes and spending as he proposed. But our hardy preppers are getting ready for the chaos which will follow. One will use an available resource, piles of rocks, to defend his life and property. Another fellow who bought an old Atlas missile silo in Kansas to convert into a doomsday bunker is seeking love, hoping to find that special someone to share and survive the Apocalypse with! How romantic!
