Don’t Be a Hot Dog, Barney Frank Tells Dem Colleagues

Barney Frank has decided to interject himself into a California Democratic House primary race by endorsing one of the two incumbents running in the same district. In a Los Angeles district, Howard Berman is running against Brad Sherman. Apparently, in an effort to convince Democrats to support his chosen candidate, Berman, Frank reverted to his policy prescription of choice, name-calling. He released a statement yesterday, “…I am not an admirer of Brad Sherman’s approach, I think it’s superficial and headline-hunting.”

Will the Tea Party Win the Texas Senate Primary?

Last week saw one of the most senior Republicans in the Senate, Richard Lugar of Indiana, lose his seat in his state’s primary. Now, another favorite is being targeted by the Tea Party. In Texas, the Republicans are choosing a candidate to replace Kay Bailey Hutchison, who is retiring following her calamitous run for governor against Rick Perry, where she only received 30% of the vote in the 2010 primary. This primary is scheduled for May 29, but early voting starts tomorrow.

North Carolina Gay Marriage Amendment Passes

Voters passed the North Carolina gay marriage amendment by a 22-point margin, 61% to 39% yesterday. Known as NC Amendment 1, the provision makes North Carolina the 30th state to add a constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage. Amendment One defines in North Carolina that ′marriage′ can only be between a man and a woman. The Tar Heel state already had laws on the books banning same-sex unions since 1996. But supporters of the amendment claim that the law was vulnerable, as a judge or a simple majority vote in the state legislature could have overturned it. Now, with the passage of the amendment to the state constitution, only a three-fifths majority of the legislature could reverse the amendment.

Richard Lugar, RINO to the End

Senator Richard Lugar faces a tough primary fight in Indiana today against State Treasurer Richard Mourdock. Mourdock is backed by the Tea Party while Lugar remains Barack Obama′s favorite Republican senator, after John McCain. Conservatives should have a good day giving the RINO Lugar the boot and passing North Carolina Amendment One, banning sane-sex marriage Constitutionally. Naturally, the Media is whining about NC Amendment 1 and the loss of Dick Lugar from the Senate. But I say good riddance to he who supports Obama′s latest folly, the Laws of the Seas Treaty, or LOST. The treaty would force the United States to pay 50% of the oil royalties from off-shore drilling within 200 miles of the coast to some United Nations oversight group. The treaty would also give that group a good deal of authority over the U.S. Constitution, which is completely unacceptable.

Mitt Romney Wins All Five Primary States, Yada, Yada, Yada…

Our next President of the United States, Willard Mitt Romney, won all five of the states which held a primary yesterday. New York, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Rhode Island and Connecticut were all easy victories, as Romney exceeded 50% in each. Speaking at a rally last night in New Hampshire, Mitt Romney kicked off his general election campaign against Barack Obama, declaring that a ′better America′ is on its way. The Mitt-ster even got creative and used ′fairness; against Obama, citing policies of the current administration that are unfair to the Middle Class and to future generations. Romney′s big line of the evening was when he described how Obama will try to use diversions to keep attention away from the real issue of the moment. ″Its still about the economy, and we′re not stupid!″

Its Been A Good Week For Mitt Romney

Mitt Romney has had a pretty good week. Since the Easter holiday break in the 2012 GOP presidential campaign, plenty has happened. Romney′s chief rival, Rick Santorum, has suspended his bid for the White House. Polling data was beginning to show Romney overtaking, and even surpassing, Santorum in his home state of Pennsylvania, which holds its primary next week Tuesday. Several other states, include delegate-rich New York, will also be holding their primaries on April 24, which should add a significant number to Romney′s delegate count. Since Monday, two fresh national polls show Romney defeating Barack Obama in November. But perhaps the best gift of all came from Obama and the Democrats as Hillary Rosen tried to throw Ann Romney under the bus for being a ′stay-at-home-mom.′ The firestorm and backlash may very well eliminate the perceived ′gender-gap′, which had been showing women voters favoring Obama over Romney by 18 points or more.

Time to put ‘The Sweater’ in Mothballs

Mitt Romney swept all three GOP primaries on Tuesday. Wisconsin, Maryland and the District of Columbia were all victories. The closest of the races was the Wisconsin 2012 primary results where Romney defeated Rick Santorum by 5 points, 43% to 38%. In Maryland, Romney topped Santorum by 20 points, 49% to 29% and in DC, where Santorum was not on the ballot, Mitt took 71% of the vote with Ron Paul and Newt Gingrich winning just 12% and 11% respectively. All three competitors vow to stay in the race but Romney now has more than half of the delegates needed to secure the 2012 GOP presidential nomination. Of the 97 delegates up for grabs last night, Romney won 82. So is it time for Rick Santorum to put his sweater in mothballs?

Santorum Slipping in Pennsylvania

The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review is reporting that Rick Santorum’s polling in his home state of Pennsylvania has slipped to just a two-point lead.

With four weeks to go before the Penn. Primary, Santorum is nearly tied with Mitt Romney and his numbers are “slipping rapidly” the paper reports.

The poll of 505 registered Republican voters, conducted March 20-25 in conjunction with the Tribune-Review and other media outlets, shows Santorum clinging to a small lead over Romney, 30 percent to 28 percent, within the poll’s 4.2 percent margin of error.

Previous polls showed Santorum leading Romney with a 15-point advantage.
