Lois Lerner, the IRS official takes the Fifth Amendment as she appeared before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee on Wednesday. In short, she declined to answer any questions put to her as the answers may be self-incriminating after reading an opening statement. The House is probing the IRS scandal of targeting the Tea Party and other Conservative and religious groups seeking to obtain a tax exempt, non-profit status, such as 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4). Two weeks ago, Lerner made the situation public during a press conference at a legal seminar, apologizing for such groups being placed on a ′Be-On-the-Look-Out′, or BOLO, list. She had stated that the incident was isolated to one IRS office in Cleveland and perhaps by just a few, rouge employees. We now know that the question asked which prompted he revelation and apology was staged by Lerner and other government officials, possibly including some from the Barack Obama White House.

The IRS apologizes to the Tea Party and other Conservative groups for targeting them on their 501C non-profit status. Lois Lerner, an official with the Internal Revenue Service issued the formal apology on Friday. The initial story appears to be that at least one IRS employee in Cincinnati flagged applications for non-profit status by any groups with the words ′Tea Party′ or ′Patriot′ in their names since 2011. The applications were delayed and demands were made for more information from such political groups, such as donors lists, Facebook postings, emails, and any contact with lawmakers. Congress plans to probe into this via its authority over the Treasury Department. Jay Carney says that the White House had nothing to do with the targeting. Even the ACLU is outraged over this action by our government.

Liberal Democrats have the answer to combating terrorism…, more taxes! Yes, the need for raising more revenue is the solution in some people′s minds. Now that we know that the Tsarnaev family was on welfare most of the past decade that they′ve been in the United States, it is easy to see why. The reason they hatched their bomb plot was not religion or politics, but they were probably upset that they lost their welfare checks. Tamelan, the older brother who was killed by police and was most likely the leader of the bunch got kicked off welfare since his estranged wife actually got a job. So how could the Tsarnaev′s afford their Porche, Mercedes, Range Rover and those $900 shoes Tamerlan liked to wear? I have to wonder if Dvhokhar and Tamerlan used their free Obama-cell-phones to detonate their pressure cooker bombs?

The Democrat-controlled U.S. Senate passes a budget for Fiscal Year 2014 early Saturday morning. Led by Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA), the proposed spending bill puts the federal budget at $3.7 Trillion dollars and includes some $1 Trillion dollars in new taxes. Yet, the budget, the first the Senate has passed in 4 years, will at best reduce budget deficits by only some $1.85 Trillion over the next ten years. Given that the vote was along party lines, with four Democrats joining all Republicans voting against it, making it a 50-49 vote, there is little chance that it will succeed getting through the House. There, the Republican-controlled House has also passed, along party lines, the latest Paul Ryan budget which proposes reducing budget deficits by some $4 Trillion over the next ten years. But are either bills what America really needs?

When you have a government that sees itself as the central institution of a society, or makes itself so, it’s not a good thing. When you have a government which believes it can tax and spend a nation to prosperity, it’s even worse. When you have a government with both these characteristics, it’s fair to say, things have become grim.

The International Monetary Fund, IMF, has proposed a plan to bailout the island nation of Cyprus by levying a tax on the bank accounts of citizens. This bailout plan has caused a bank run as depositors empty their savings accounts. The original deal was to impose a 9.9% tax on accounts with more than 100,000 Euros and a 6.75% tax on those with less. Another proposal calls for those with less than 100,000 Euros to pay a 3% tax on their savings. Those with 100,000 to 500,000 Euros would be taxed at a 10% rate and those with more than 500,000 at a 15% tax rate. Cyprus has attracted much foreign investments, particularly from Russia. Needless to say nobody likes either plan and one can only imagine how Obama and the Democrats are drooling over doing a similar tax here in the USA.

Barack Obama wearing a fake mustache makes as much sense as his recent charm offensive to appear being cordial to House and Senate Republicans. Obama has already made it quite clear that he does not think there is a spending problem in Washington, DC, and is not worried about the rapidly growing National Debt. Of course he doesn′t since he has contributed the most to it for any single president! With budget talks under way before the March 27 deadline when the federal government runs out of money, again, and another round of debt limit talks by May, when our line of credit is maxed out, again, all Obama wants is to raise more tax revenue. His immediate problem is that the public is starting to get wise to his tricks after attempts to scare the nation during the sequester negotiations failed when numerous lies told by Obama and his administration were unmasked. Now we have proof from an unnamed White House senior staff member that the charm offensive is a ″joke″ and being orchestrated purely for Media consumption. What next?

Move over Benghazi-Gate, we now have Woodward-Gate! The Washington Post lion of journalism, Bob Woodward, has gotten himself embroiled in a bitter fight with Barack Obama and his White House staff. The issue is over the looming sequestration, a series of automatic spending cuts due to begin on Friday, March 1st. For weeks, Obama has been railing over how terrible the sequester spending cuts will be in an attempt to shame House Republicans into agreeing to more tax increases. But there is just one teeny-tiny problem with Obama′s rhetoric, he is the guy who wanted sequestration in the first place! So says Bob Woodward who wrote a book on the budget battle in 2011 which led to the sequester provisions. The Woodward made the bold statement on MSNBC describing the Obama administration as ″a kind of madness I haven′t seen in a long time.″, comparing Obama to Richard Nixon. For his sins, a senior White House staffer, Gene Sperling, sent Woodward an email, threatening him that Woodward will ″regret doing this.″
