The History Channel has a new series that is very interesting, ′America Unearthed′, hosted by forensic geologist, Scott Wolter. He is also the president of American Petrographic Services, the working end of a new branch of science Wolter has invented – Archeopetrography. A scientific process for dating and categorizing unusual and mysterious artifacts and locations. In the premier episode which aired last Friday on the so-called Mayan Doomsday, Wolter presented a good argument that the Mayans had established settlements in the United States, mainly in Florida and Georgia. He also may have solved the mystery of some alien-like skulls found in Mexico. Last night’s episode examined a ′rune stone′ from Arizona marked in Medieval English that may indicate a European visitor well before Columbus. Next week Friday, the H2 series investigates whether or not ancient Minoan miners sailed from the Mediterranean to the shores of Lake Superior in Michigan′s Upper Peninsula to mine for copper. Pretty wild stuff!

After the Ohio Republican, John Boehner lost his Plan B vote last night on the Fiscal Cliff, he may be hoping that the Mayan calendar is correct and that today will be the apocalypse. We′ll know soon enough as the end of the world is suppose to take place at 11:11AM EST, but my guess is that nothing will happen other than the arrival of the Winter Solstice. Still, it was an evening of Armageddon yesterday in Washington as Conservative and Tea Party House Republicans revolted at Speaker John Boehner′s plan to raise taxes on the successful. Once the debacle became clear that his threats of voiding subcommittee chairmanships was not going to succeed, Boehner retreated, pulling his legislation off the table. Instead, Boehner has now tossed the ball back to Barack Obama and Harry Reid, prompting them to consider earlier bills which passed the House months ago, to deal with the sequestration cuts and tax increases.

The National Geographic Channel, a.k.a. NatGeo TV, had a fun 2-hour documentary on last night entitled ′Evacuate Earth.′ Sunday was a marathon of various doomsday programs, including a mix of Doomsday Preppers along with shows about the Mayan Calendar with their date for doomsday looming closer on December 21, 2012. The premise for Evacuate Earth is what would we do if we knew that a neutron star was headed our way in 75 years? Could we organize and construct a massive spacecraft to transport an assortment of humans to another Earth-like planet in a distant star system? Is there a lesson to be learned now? Should we start to consider leaving Earth to escape Barack Obama and Socialist tyranny?

Now that the elections are over, the question is how do we survive 4 more years of Barack Obama? Is it time to bandit up to the hills or buy an old freighter for ′sea-steading′ purposes? Should we all roll up to the bar and get our fair share of food stamps, Obama-phones and other goodies to help crash the system? Businesses all across America are already laying off workers to avoid ObamaCare and other new taxes and regulations. Gun sales are way up, too, as people worry about the potential fiscal disaster we face which would spark mob violence and civil unrest. The grim facts are piling up fast!

Last night was the premier of ′Training for the Apocalypse′ on NatGeo-TV. At first, I thought that National Geographic was just playing up to the popularity of their hit series, ′Doomsday Preppers′, but this was not the case. The one-hour show featured two main groups of people, that of Leland Freeborn, the Parowan Prophet in Utah and Fernando Antonio Selgeuro of Survive and Thrive in Philadelphia. In addition to these two principle players, we also have their cast of followers, and how each group is preparing for Doomsday and why.

Happy New Year! Today is the first day of 2012. If you are reading this, then you obviously survived the evening. Perhaps with a slight headache? If the Mayans or Nostradamus are correct, you may wind up with more than just a headache this year. Some people believe that this is a year of doom. That the world, or at least humanity, will come to an apocalyptic end. Plenty is happening across the planet. Iran announced this morning that it produced its first batch of enriched uranium. North Korea′s new leader wants his subjects to be human shields to protect him. Here in the U.S., we have a presidential election to contend with. 2012 may be one heck of a year if we survive it.

As the winter solstice occurs tonight at 11:30pm CST, making today the shortest of the year in the Northern Hemisphere, we also have the doomsday clock to begin its countdown on the Mayan calendar to December 21, 2012. While NASA explains why the world won′t end on that Friday a year from today, a whole lot of people are thinking the Apocalypse is coming in 2012. Could they be right that the Mayan calendar predicts the end of the world as we know it?
