Right Review: Playbook 2012 – The Right Fights Back

The editors of Politico have decided to produce a series of e-books that examine the 2012 Presidential race. The first of these, The Right Fights Back, has now been released. The book was co-authored by Mike Allen, a Politico reporter, and Evan Thomas, a Newsweek editor and reporter. Primarily, this short book (only 65 pages in e-book form) looks at the Republican nomination contest and explains why Mitt Romney secured the nomination.

Herman Cain Harassment Allegations, the Plot gets Thicker

The Herman Cain harassment allegations continue to be front and center of the 24/7 Media organs. The Washington Post is reporting that one of the women has asked her attorney to get the National Restaurant Association to wave the confidentiality agreement so she might tell her side of the story. Cain has been playing defense, spending much of this week in Washington, DC, where he spoke before the National Press Club on Monday. While his version of the story has not really changed, Cain has been coming forward with additional information in bits and pieces, adding to the controversy. Even appearances on ′friendly′ shows, like Greta Van Susteren of Fox News have not gone all that well. Major pundits like Ann Coulter and Rush Limbaugh have been staunchly defending Herman Cain, comparing this to the high-tech lynching of Clarence Thomas. Meanwhile, others are questioning how the Politico obtained their information? Was the story leaked to them by somebody in either the Rick Perry or Mitt Romney campaigns? Allow me to don my deerskin hat and give you my personal opinion on that mystery…

Ron Paul Attacks GOP and Obama in New Ad (VIDEO)

Texas Congressman Ron Paul attacks both his fellow GOP presidential candidates and Barack Obama in a new video ad entitled ′The One′. Paul, who finish a very close second after Michele Bachmann in the Ames Straw Poll, takes her on, as well as Mitt Romney, Rick Perry and even Tim Pawlenty who has already quit the race. The theme of the ad is that only Ron Paul has been consistent throughout his legislative career in voting against any tax increases or big spending bills, such as the stimulus or raising the debt ceiling. Since this weekend′s straw poll in Iowa, there has been some criticism of the Media for a general lack of coverage on Ron Paul. Fox News even did a story about the lack of Media stories. The rest pay Paul almost no attention at all.

Michele Bachmann, Tea Party Win Ames Iowa Straw Poll Results, Tim Pawlenty Presidential Bid Ends

The Ames Iowa Straw Poll 2011 results are in and Michele Bachmann won, finishing in first place with about 29% of the vote. Ron Paul was a close second, with over 28%, a mere 152 votes behind Bachmann, 4,823 to 4,671, Tim Pawlenty presidential bid ended Sunday despite finishing third with 2,293, just under 14%. Rick Santorum and Herman Cain rounded out the top 5 with 1,657 and 1,456 votes respectively, putting both just under 10% each. Rick Perry, who announced his bid for the White House in South Carolina yesterday, received some 718 write-in votes, beating Mitt Romney who only got 567. The rest of the field, Newt Gingrich with 385 votes, Jon Huntsman with 69 and Thad McCotter with only 35 votes are hardly worth mentioning. What is worth mentioning is that despite his third place showing, Tim Pawlenty has decided this morning to call it quits and end his presidential campaign.

Live Republican Debate Helps Mitt Romney and Michele Bachmann

Last night′s live Republican debate certainly helped the Mitt Romney and Michele Bachmann campaigns. Both generally answered the questions that were asked and added a few zingers when they could. Bachmann still takes the prize for enthusiasm, showing much energy. Best applause lines is a three-way split between Newt Gingrich when he attacked Chris Wallace and later when he raved against the Congressional ′Super Committee′, Tim Pawlenty for his joke about only mowing one acre of Romney′s lawn, and Ron Paul, who naturally had a good crowd in the audience supporting him.
