Right Review: Playbook 2012 – The Right Fights Back

The editors of Politico have decided to produce a series of e-books that examine the 2012 Presidential race. The first of these, The Right Fights Back, has now been released. The book was co-authored by Mike Allen, a Politico reporter, and Evan Thomas, a Newsweek editor and reporter. Primarily, this short book (only 65 pages in e-book form) looks at the Republican nomination contest and explains why Mitt Romney secured the nomination.

Failed Presidential Bids, Candidates

We have seen several failed presidential bids and candidates so far in the past year. Some barely had a chance at bat, to use a baseball analogy. Rick Perry, Michele Bachmann and Jon Huntsman, Jr., as well as Herman Cain are just the latest to join others in history. Al Gore, Ross Perot, John Edwards, Howard Dean, Gary Hart, Michael Dukakis are among those who in recent memory appeared to have a shot at the White House and failed. Gerald Ford lost his presidency in 1976 to Jimmy Carter. Barry Goldwater perhaps had the most famous loss in 1964 after Lyndon Johnson ran a controversial TV ad implying that Goldwater would start a nuclear war. So just what does it take to earn the big chair in the Oval Office?

Will The GOP Pick a Minority For Vice President?

Will the GOP pick a woman or an Hispanic for the number two spot on the 2112 ticket or will they pick another ORWG (old rich white guy)?

The question arises by a recent report from WISH TV in Indianapolis that Hoosier Governor Mitch Daniels will not rule out accepting the second chair on the 2012 ticket.

Bachmann Suspends Campaign

Michele Bachmann says she fought the good fight. Her campaign was an “important” voice in this campaign, she said. But due to her poor showing in Iowa she announced on Wednesday that she is suspending her campaign for the White House.

Bachmann put a lot of effort into Iowa, the state of her birth. But by the final counting of the Hawkeye Cauci she came in a distant sixth place. At least she beat Huntsman and the campaign vacating Herman Cain.

Bachmann’s Top Guy in Iowa Endorses… Ron Paul?

Intrigue in Iowa from GOP candidate Michele Bachmann’s campaign chairman in Iowa, State Senator Kent Sorenson. Well, at least he was Michele Bachmann’s campaign chairman. Until this. In a shocking about face, Sorenson announced today that he is dropping Bachmann like a hot rock and stampeding straight for Ron Paul.

Saying that this decision was “the most difficult I have made in my life,” Sorenson announced his ship jumping and subsequent bandwagon jumping at a Paul rally in Ankeny, Iowa. And, showing poor professionalism, reports state that he didn’t let Bachmann know until he was about to make his debut as a nouveau Paultard. In fact, he left a Bachmann rally only three hours earlier before he made a bee-line for the Paul event.

Iowa Caucus 2012- Seven Days To Go

Just seven days, one week, to go before the 2012 Iowa Caucus. As the polls stand now, it is a close race between Ron Paul and Mitt Romney, but more than half of the voters are undecided, still. Newt Gingrich is attempting a comeback, as is Rick Perry. Michele Bachmann and Rick Santorum, whom have spent the most time in the Hawkeye State, are trying the hardest to stay relevant. Last week saw wall-to-wall negative TV ads played across Iowa against Gingrich, mostly funded by the Paul or Romney campaigns and their Super-PACs. Rick Perry′s latest TV spot goes after Congress members, particularly those current and former members now running for president. Newt is trying to stay positive in a sea of mud. Meanwhile, in the background, the Occupy Iowa Caucus gang is gearing up to disrupt the voting, even if it just to have its members cast uncommitted ballots to skew the results.

Michele Bachmann heckled by Gay Robot in Iowa City

No Merry Christmas for Michele Bachmann in 2011. The presidential candidate was at the eatery, the Hamburg Inn holding a campaign rally in Iowa City on Thursday. Bachmann was heckled by a gay robot, as well as other protesters. The gay robot was actually a man in a robot costume, who used a megaphone to shout at Bachmann. Calling him, or itself, ′Roboprof′, the gay robot taunted Michele Bachmann. He is the same Gay Robot who had once taunted Bill Clinton. The local newspaper, the Iowa City Patch, published an account of the event. ″I am a gay robot. I oppose Bachmann′s position on gays, whether they are human or robots.″ Other protesters were loud and chanting ″You′re not wanted here. So go, just go.″ The protesters, it turns out, were about 24 strong and members of Occupy Iowa City. Imagine that! Iowa City has its own group of Occupiers.

GOP Debate in Sioux City, Iowa gets ugly live on TV

The GOP debate in Sioux City, Iowa, carried live by Fox News last night, got a bit ugly. For the second debate in a row, front runner Newt Gingrich was attacked, especially by Michele Bachmann and Ron Paul. Mitt Romney was able to hide behind Bachmann′s skirt and keep his own hands clean, even though his campaign went very negative this week in attacking Gingrich. It was as if the Republican presidential nomination race took a turn at the sign post ahead into the Twilight Zone this week. When will we seriously ask ourselves what is it that we want and expect from our candidate?
