Copenhagen was Supposed to Become HOPEnhagen, but Turned into NOPEnhagen

You’ve seen those commercials with the hurricane eye, mystery voices screaming and the catchy phrase “Let’s turn Copenhagen into Hopenhagen” appear on the screen. Very dramatic ad, but the hope thing ain’t happening.
There is only one person on Earth that knows more about Hope then Barack Obama – and this person is the Pope. That is why when radio Vatican proclaimed that the Climate Change Treaty that was supposed to happen in Copenhagen will be pushed to be discussed next year – I knew Hope has turned into Nope in Denmark.

(21 November 09 – Radio Vatican) The UN and Denmark this week said that a binding international treaty to limit greenhouse gas emissions will slip to mid-2010 or beyond, and a summit in Copenhagen next month will fall short of its ambitions. The United Nations’ top climate official said a treaty could be wrapped up at talks in Bonn by mid-2010. Denmark, host of next month’s meeting, said it might take longer – until Mexico in December. Negotiations on a deal, initially due to be reached at the Dec. 7-18 summit in Copenhagen, have stalled.

“Don’t Tax You, Don’t Tax Me,…”

Mary Landrieu gave a long speech at the health care debate yesterday, as did virtually all of her colleagues. She ended her speech by asking for a point of personal privilege. She then derided ‘conservative blogs’ which had castigated her for taking $100 million in pork for Louisiana, as was reported at this site earlier this week. She asserted that it was unfair to attack her in this manner since Bobby Jindal was in favor of taking the pork, as was the entire Louisiana Congressional delegation. She was therefore acting for the benefit of her constituents within her state, rather than acting on behalf of the entire nation.

Postal Service Bailout? Democrat Danny Davis Thinks It’s Necessary

The United States Postal Service lost almost $4 billion dollars last year, it stands to lose another $7.8 billion (by their own estimation) next year. So what’s the solution? Postal Service bailout of course; at the present they’re borrowing government money just to stay afloat, but they’re nearing the legal cap of $15 billion that they can borrow from the Treasury. You can thank Danny Davis for the bailout idea.

So far the US Postal Service has borrowed over $10 billion dollars from the government just to keep the doors open, and at the rate things are going they could max out their legal debt ceiling in the next two years. Federal law only allows the Postal Service to borrow $3 billion per year.

Several solutions have been bandied about, but really none that would allow the Postal Service to continue operating as we’ve always known it. Rep. Danny Davis, an Illinois Democrat, feels that a Postal Service bailout could be in order. Davis says that the Postal Service is the one essential lifeline to millions of Americans and shouldn’t just be shut down totally.

Stimulus Package Working?

Today, the NYT paired two headlines, “New Consensus Sees Stimulus Package as Worthy Step” and “Michigan Again Has Highest Jobless Rate”. Let’s look for a moment at the stories themselves to see if there is any conflict.

In the former, the writers admit the stimulus has been relatively useless at adding jobs, and admits that conservatives claim that the package was a waste of governmental funds, but still claims that a consensus of economists who have viewed the data insist that it is working (interesting definition of consensus). Apparently, the best way for the economy to quickly produce jobs is to throw even more pork at states, hope some jobs get produced, then let the results ‘trickle down’ to the rest of us.

Recent Polls - Obama Polls, Senate Races, Congress, Presidential Job Approval

There is continued stability today with “job approval.”

The nicest part of doing this job is when my thoughts are confirmed by data from other sources. The data from Fox News, Quinnipiac and PPP clearly confirms the downward trends within the data.

We have several new records.

1. All-time low for the 30-day trend for the “approval index” … -10.75% !!!!!!
2. All-time low for the 30-day trend for overall approval for men … 43.74% !!!!!!
3. All-time low for the 30-day trend for overall approval index for men … -11.68% !!!!!!
4. Third time that the 30-day trend for overall approval for men has been less than 44%!!!!!!

You may access this data via the links below.

This page on political polls and analysis will be updated daily so bookmark it and return frequently for updated information. The data will grow over time to include sections on key 2010 Senate race polls, 2012 presidential polls, and the data you see today.

Liz Cheney Running for President in 2012?

When Liz Cheney said “Think Cheney 2012″ on the last FOX News Sunday with Chris Wallace – the panel in the studio and lame stream media later assumed she was talking about her father – former VP Dick Cheney. Everybody took the bait – and got caught in… sexism. She did not say “Think Dick Cheney 2012”. It never occurred to the Good Ol’ Boys in the media that Liz Cheney was hinting about a possible run of a Cheney in 2012… like in “Liz Cheney 2012″. Why not? The lady is extremely smart and has a whooping resume that tops Hillary and Sarah if you put them together.
Let’s take a look at who Liz Cheney really is , besides the fact that she is a daughter of her father. Can Liz become the American Angela Merkel?

Americans Living Abroad will be Penalized by the Senate Version of Obama’s Health Care Bill

According to recent estimates by the U.S. State Department, there are 6.6 million Americans living overseas.
Obama’s health care reform will tax them for not holding US health insurance the excise tax of $750 a year. Organizations of ex-pats all over the world are currently protesting the Obama’s tax on Americans living abroad. The House Health Care Bill exempted the ex-pats from paying the tax. This is not the case in the Senate Bill.
Here is the list with the frequently asked questions by Americans living abroad answered by AACI /Association of Americans and Canadians living in Israel
1. I participate in Medicare – will I still have to pay the excise tax?

As of this writing, Medicare is not specifically named as one of the approved health care plans. Therefore we suggest you fax your objections to the excise tax.

2. If a citizen living abroad pays the $750 will they be covered when in the U.S. on visits?

Payment of the excise tax will not cover you in the US; you will get no insurance benefit for paying this tax. The excise tax will be a penalty you pay for not participating in one of the authorized health plans. You will still need to purchase travel insurance.

3. Is that amount the same for everyone regardless of income? If someone is a student, retiree, child, otherwise unemployed still required to pay it?

The excise tax mentioned in the Senate bill will be the same for everyone.
